TRIP REPORT | RYANAIR: Trying Pre-Order Meal! | London Stansted to Madrid | Boeing 737

Ryanair trip report from London-Stansted to Madrid, onboard one of the Ryanair's Boeing 737, on a cold winter morning. We tried for the first time the Ryanair pre-ordered meals: What a disappointment!!
Apart from the disappointment with the pre-ordered meal (breakfast) the flight was really nice, with an on-time departure and arrival and an amazing sunrise during flight. The approach to Madrid with great visibility gave us some very nice views.

People complain a lot about Ryan.air but I never have had a problem with that airline.Always on time.For short flights I think Ryan.air is the best.

Me neither. I flew more than 300 times with them without any problem. But I really was expecting more from that preordered meal... if something can be better I will say it. Especially if its about an airline that I care about. Criticism, at least from me, is not hating at all.

Would I eat that breakfast? Yep. Bacon (I can see it peeping out), white pudding, two sausage, hash browns and a tomato. Great stuff.

Re the meal, yep would eat it no problem. Suggest you do a few years in the army, after that meals like that are luxury lol

I don't know in which army you served but where I did we ate like kings, all of the ingredients where local and the cooks were superb, but yes I get your point I would eat that meal no problem, it doesn't even look that awful it's obvious that it's not going to be super tasty but still no reason to throw it away... food and water is precious!

Dejan Jordan The Best army in the world The British Army. The food was too put mildly awful and it deteriorated greatly on exercise or operations where you where issued compo rations some dated from the 50,s. That was of course applicable to the other ranks, the officers as befitting their status ateliked kings.

Nothing wrong with that meal at all, were you expecting some foie gras and quail eggs for breakfast? These are the standard components of an English/Irish breakfast, with a decent quality bread, quality Irish butter and marmalade. No doubt the coffee and orange juice was questionable, but the rest isn't half bad at all.

Well, first I think nobody can call me a hater of the airplane food. In all my videos I buy it to show it. My opinion this time was as honest as possible. Many airlines offer pre-ordered meals. Ones are better than others, but this one, sadly, was the worst I've seen, and for the same price. Im not talking only abou how it looked, but also the taste. I will try other meals in the near future with them. I wish they would improve them a little bit. I would be glad to buy it in every flight!

What is wrong with the breakfast ? We always order it on early flights and find it tasty (better than it looks to be fair) and good value compared to airport breakfasts. Orange juice, hot drink, bread butter and marmalade plus hot food - can't complain at €10 !

Thanks for the feedback, Roy. Unfortunatelly, I can't say the same this time. I think nobody can say that I don't like plane food: I bought something in every single flight of this channel. However, this time... i was really disspointed. The meal looked awful (being honest) and the taste was not good at all. When flying with Ryanair I will definitely continue purchasing meals onboard and not on the website. For me, a good pre-ordered meal is what Jet2 serves. A really good one is the Condor one. However, the exceptional, the Top Level, is Austrian Airlines with their amazing breakfast! 😊✈

At 8:53? That looks like sausage, potato cookie, tomato and egg to me. A typical English breakfast, although you have to be continental European to be able to digest this in the morning. You should have behaved like a big boy and eat your breakfast!!! :-) But seriously, those sunrises on airplanes are the best!

I think the video colours make it better than it trully was haha Believe me, I always support and defend Ryanair, as they were the main airline in the channel for many years, when my budget was so low that I could only fly with them. But I really wanted them to improve this "breakfast". That was all :) By the way! In less than 1 hour we'll have the very first Trip Report flying on a Boeing 737 MAX on the channel! It's interesting because I have an intense fear of flying. Yet because of Covid and having to spend most of this year restricted to within 5km of my home, instead of my usual feeling of dread when thinking about air travel, when watching this video I felt an extreme nostalgia and longing for the call to adventure that air travel enables.

Jajaja Realmente, ya tenía una idea de lo que me iba a encontrar ahí dentro. Pero quería ver si se puede conseguir que lo mejoren un poco. Lo hago desde mi mejor intención (de ahí que no haya puesto ninguna opinion en el titulo del video, que sin duda habria dado mas reproducciones al video). Creo que por el mismo precio, otras aerolineas ofrecen comida bastante mejor. Saludos!

De este vídeo sin duda lo más bonito ha sido ver el amanecer desde el aire, y menos mal que no te comiste eso sino no se si habrías llegado a Madrid, y también las vistas de los pueblos cuando el avión se va aproximando a destino son muy buenas. Un cordial saludo y buen fin de.

I agree! The only airline that sometimes offers fares similar to Ryanair is Wizzair, but then the with the extras it is a lot more expensive...

¡De nuevo, fantástico video Lucas!. Estas vistas para cualquiera que nos gusta volar son una gozada, y lo cierto es que te han quedado unas tomas geniales. Respecto al menú, creo que en este caso merece más la pena comprarlo en el propio avión que pedirlo con antelación (al menos caso que nos expones). No obstante, ¿Ryanair ofrece más opciones de platos pre-comprados?. ¿Pueden merecer la pena?. Porque si es así, lo mismo me puedo plantear alguno. Aunque con el extenso catálogo de menús a bordo acompañado de unos precios que son bastante razonables, en próximos vuelos prefiero tirar de menú a bordo. Saludos.

Es un autentico placer leer comentarios así, tan positivos y con tanto feedback! 😊 Respecto a la comida, sí, ofrecen alguna otra opción, pero sólo para los vuelos que salen de Stansted y otras ciudades de UK antes de las 8am (o parecido). La verdad es que esta fue la primera vez que me sentí decepcionado por Ryanair en muchísimos años. Me esperaba mucho mas... me esperaba algo normal, cuyo aspecto al menos fuese bueno... Saludos! 😊

la gran pega que le veo al aeropuerto de Stansted es que, como no tengas la suerte de tener pasarela...dejar a los pasajeros en el hueco de las escaleras lo veo horroroso, y más en días de lluvia. En un vuelo de Stansted a Barcelona nos tocó esperar bastante rato en esas escaleras, mucha desesperación, y luego carrera hacia el avión porque estaba lloviendo...El desayuno delicioso eh?? Usaste el botón FLUSH para eliminarlo? jajaja buen video como siempre :)

Pues la verdad es que nunca he usado pasarela en Stansted en más de 20 vuelos desde allí jaja Lo de hacer esperar a los pasajeros en esas escaleras sí que es terrible... sin embargo, de ese modo se pueden hacer escalas muy cortas. En cuanto el avion esta listo, los pasajeros embarcan rápidamente y el avión puede despegar rapido. La eficiencia perfecta para cualquier low-cost 😊✈

This RYANAIR Boeing 737-800 (WL) interior looks very nice with the brandnew Seats. Have I recogniced it right that the seat-pitch of these new seats are a little more roomier than the old FR seats? In any case, very good record-job. Only partly in my very own opinion your to be true only very partly played background-music inside your video is a little bit disturbing. BUT netherelses you are on a perfect course. Please make further on so.

The fare is almost always the best one available. No doubt on that. The special thing on this flight was the pre-ordered meal for the first time. It was very dissapointing... 😔

Solo he estado una vez en stanstead, pero no vuelvo más, primero, entramos en el avión con más de una hora de retraso... y una vez dentro, a nuestra izquierda llegó un easyJet , desembarcaron los pasajeros del easyJet, embarcaron y se fueron antes que nuestro ryanair. Al final, 2 horas y media de retraso para un vuelo a edimburgo de 55 minutos... lamentable. Aunque por suerte no te paso a tí!!!!! Buen video!

Bueno... realmente... de todo lo que cuentas nada tiene culpa el aeropuerto de Stansted... Respecto al easyJet que salió antes que vosotros... eso fue que vosotros tuvisteis lo que se llama un "slot" para vuestro vuelo. Basicamente habia una satuacion de trafico en vuestra ruta y os pusieron una demora por ello 😕

Everytime i fly ryanair i always get the new seats but old cabin. I remember one time i flew on ryanair it had the the new seats and the old cabin and the cabin was all broken on EI-DLV

I have flown more than 300 times with Ryanair so I had the 3 cabins already. Actually, I had some old style cabin like 10 years ago... haha I barely can remember how they were... 😅

@@OnBoardHD About a month ago, I flew in an ancient and really shabby Ryanair cabin on EI-ENE (produced in 2010) and in a brand new one (2018) in seat 1A only a couple of days later and it felt like I had been upgraded or flying another airline :) Had a hamburger once on a 5-hour flight and it was far from tasty... I've been skipping the hot meals after that, only having some snacks like chocolate bars etc.

@@OnBoardHD Yes, it was 🙂 The crew seem to have more storage space for refreshments etc. and the overhead bins are larger, but I only checked the front side of the cabin. It's a real upgrade though!

Sí, es totalmente normal que un poco de olor se cuele en la cabina. De hecho, el sistema de presurización coge el aire que entra en la cabina por el aire acondicionado de los motores. Saludos!

I really don’t see the point of eating airline food to be honest, if your flight is an hour or so. Save the money and eat at your final destination. For example, I’m living in Malta, and a flight to Rome only takes 1hr . So I have a good breakfast and coffee at home , I prepare a sandwich and snacks. Soon after departing Malta I arrive in Rome and shortly after I’m in the center of Rome. Then it’s drinks drinks and more drinks with delicious food 😋😋😋. Nice video by the way 👍👍👏👏

As far as I know, hot meals were only available from Stansed and only on flights departing in the early-morning. I guess you will be able to buy onboard as always. 😊

If you pre-order food with Ryanair, you see a clear photo of what your getting, your breakfast looks the same as the photo, so why did you order it? All that food and drinks on your tray for 10 Euro, its really not that bad, compared with some airlines it that looks pretty decent. Came home with Ryanair last Sunday, got the 10 Euro Bolognese meal deal, it was good. Fly Ryanair 6-8 times a year, going on holiday and visiting family in Europe, love Ryanair, never had an issue. They offer more legroom then British Airways do in their Airbus A319 BUSINESS CLASS, like your videos, just subbed :)

Last Year for a little more extra costs I booked the "CONDOR" Premium-Economy-Class on my vacation trip from DUS to PMI. It included a breakfast too. And very surprisingly for a German holiday-airline the Crew distributes us with an English Breakfast. Two sausages and many scrambled-eggs. Alone this main course was more than enough to eat. Besides we,ve got a very sweet strawberry-mousse-cake and at twice the crew offered free drinks. To be true. The food was very delicious. Espectially the scrambled eggs were good spiced. And very early in the morning very much I prefer bread-rolls, sliced bread, crossaints, sliced cold mead and marmelade. Yes. Allready I,ve mentioned it. The dessert was very sweet but refreshing too. For such a breakfast even I had paid a few EUROS with luck. BUT your pre-ordered RYANAIR food-box really is a bad joke. The amount of food was not very much and the entire food-contents were looking very dry. I think very good I can understand you, that you couldn,t enjoyed this

Well, also the B737 has shorter gear struts, that means that any landing that its not super soft will look like "hard". The Airbuses have longer gear struts, so they always "show" softer landings.. 😎

For me, the descending into Madrid (MAD) looks very deep. I for myself have had experienced such a steep descent into PMI too. Few years ago onboard an "airberlin" A-321. Allready while we were flying almost over Majorca and it,s mountains, suddenly the Captain deploys the spoilers at the wings and our plane were descending this steep that at the ground allready I wasn,t able to hear anything. It was a very sudden approach into PMI. I never forget this.
