To nás pravdu, v porovnání s některými typy lůžkových vozů jsou tyto starší opravdu lépe odhlučněné.. ani skoro nebyli slyšet lidi z vedlejších kupé, což je třeba u Siemensů celkem slyšet.

Tak dnes jsem zkusil WLABmz a to odhlučnění je strašný. Možná bych řekl že v Deluxe je to ještě horší kvůli WC. Zkrátka jsem se nevyspal a ještě jsem slyšel skoro každé slovo :D ​@@PeteBrandy

Thanks for watching! If you plan to stay in the destination, it's definitely better to take a day train. This night train had the advantage that in Bratislava I managed to catch the first morning train to Prague :-)

Thanks so much! Unfortunately, these older sleeping cars are without air conditioning, but there are not so many nights with high temperatures in the summer in this area. Yes, there is an early morning Railjet train from Bratislava, but there is only one connection per day, operating line Bratislava - Vienna - Zurich. Greetings from Prague :-)

ZSSK poslední dobou volím celkem často, nedávno jsem cestoval IC45 z Vídně do Košic. Jinak ten Split jsem také zvažoval, jen nevím jestli to ještě stihnu do konce sezóny, pokud ne, tak pravděpodobně zkusím WLABmee na EC Slovenská Strela / R Poľana z Prahy do Košic.

Mě se WLAB take líbí, je to taková klasika a navíc má i své výhody, například jsou lépe odhlučněné vůči vedlejším kupé, takže narozdíl od Siemensů WLABmz neslyšíš každé slovo ze sousedního kupé :-D Jinak jezdí stále také u PKP, které mají tyto vozy hezky zmodernizované od Pesa Bydgoszcz, poslední přestavby už mají i klimu.

@@PeteBrandy Jj vím :) Od PKP jsem ho ještě nezkusil.Ale plánuji až bude jezdit Wydmy z Bohumína do Helu tak si s ním zajedu 😁Na tenhle spoj se těším.Údajně tam mají jezdit dva WLAB(ty zmodernizované) a asi 8 B 🙂. Uvidíme až bude sezóna

Také jsem o Wydmy uvažoval, uvidím jak mi to vyjde.. Jinak na Wydmy jezdí starší modernizace WLAB ještě se zalamovacími dveřmi. Nejlepší modernizace jezdí teď na IC Przemyslanin a TLK Uznam, ty už mají dokonce i klimatizaci.

I think the price is almost the same, last year I traveled via the southern route on Rychlík Pol'ana and I think the price was only about 3 EUR lower.

I took similar train in summer 2022, but it run via Southern route and it was only 3 EUR cheaper :-D

Hello Martin, thanks for watching :-) These sleeper cars are marked WLABee, they have installed CZE (central power supply), new toilets, new sink in the cabins, new upholstery of beds ..

I think Slovakia is one of the last countries where original Görlitz sleeping cars are still in regular operation. In Poland, I saw and tried only modernized ones, but they are not bad.

The first modernizations of GDR-made sleepers in PKP fleet date back to mid-nineties, when these cars were equipped with windows of Polish production, that were also used in domestically-built 11xA family of 1st and 2nd class cars. Later on sleepers had their interior refurbished with colors of the walls, doors and bed upholstery changed to turquoise or pink - ahh, the nineties! And then starting on with mid-2000s, during the PKP Intercity days, these cars were retrofitted with automatic doors, yet another interior refurbishment, oil heating instead of a coal-fired boiler, and... LED buttons inside compartments (whose brain-dead idea was that!? I had to use duct tape on my trips to obscure these!). The Slovakian, Hungarian or Czech sleepers never received any of these modifications, and the biggest I see on this video is... a USB socket - that's literally it.

Díky! Z Humenného jsem chtěl, ale nevycházelo mi to časově, přijel jsem do Košic IC z Vídně a měl jsem jen necelé 2 hodiny, za tu dobu bych to z Košic do Humenného nestihl.

@@PeteBrandy Škoda, tam je teprve správné Východni Slovensko, Aspoň vím že ty dieselové loko to táhnou stále až do Košic, kdysi se přeprahovalo už v Bánovcích n Ondavou..a myslím že v Humenném furt není elektrika zavedena..za ty léta to mohli protáhnout cca 30 km

Stále tam není elektrika. Ale Humenné se také někdy chystám, tu trať jsem ještě nejel, možná časem dám EN Slovakia z Humenného do Prahy, ten jezdí také v úseku Humenné - Košice se 757.

@@PeteBrandy Elektrika vede až k Michalovcům, Rychlík z Prahy jel na elektriku až před Michalovce tam , pak se přepřahlo a jenže už jsem jim to nechce dělat, zdržovalo to, tak jezdí s Dieselem až do Košic...

Zas na druhou stranu lepší mít kupé s lůžkem a jen pro sebe, navíc ty lůžka ve starých vozech jsou mnohem pohodlnější a navíc ty staré vozy jsou mnohem lépe odhlučněné vůči cestujícím z vedlejších kupé než třeba nové Siemens lůžkové vozy.

Yes, there are still many intercity trains in Europe where cars without air conditioning are operated.

The origin station of this train is Humenné. Only the InterCity train goes to Vienna from Košice. In my opinion, the best night train from Vienna is the Nightjet to Zurich, which runs with double-decker sleeper cars.

@@PeteBrandy you nailed it! I agree that the best night train from Vienna is the Nigthjet 466 to Zurich. I traveled this particular train a number of times in both directions, and, if you're lucky enough (as you were) to reserve one of the Deluxe compartments on the upper level, you'll experience a fabulous combination of comfort, space, and views out of no less than four large windows. Having a breakfast while the Swiss mountain landscape rolls by is unbeatable! And the train that you took from Košice is also outstanding, for other reasons. Such a throwback to the 70's and 80's is hard to find today. The WLAB sleepers were all the rage in Eastern Europe in those years, and they remain comfortable and not at all run down. I traveled on a lightly refurbished WLAB in Poland, TLK Rozewie from Gdynia to Opole in 2021; that was a wonderful trip as well. Thanks for bringing up great memories!

Yes, I agree.. if you want to book the Deluxe compartment, you must reserve the ticket a few months in advance. I also tried the refurbished PKP WLAB coaches on TLK Karkonosze, they are very nice and still comfy :)

@Pete Brandy I've always wanted to do an overnight train. I'll be traveling on a Eurail first class pass. I'm just going to " wing" it when I'm in Vienna and hopefully can get a berth on an overnight train going somewhere. I hope that Vienna to Bucharest train may have an opening. If not, maybe Poland. I've been to Zurich and I want to do some eastern Europe this time. Thanks again Pete

Ja uz jsem cestoval i temi modernejsimi WLABmee na R Polana, ty jsou celkem dobre, ale u nic zas prozmenu chybi alespon mala vyklapeci okenka.

@@PeteBrandy: Klimatizace nema smysl pri otevrenych oknech. V lete byva pred pulnoci i 25'C a v zime mrzne - ani jedno ti otevrene okno idealne nevyresi. Clovek u okna ma pruvan a zbyly nemaji dostatecne vetrani.

Konečně mi to vyšlo spojit s nějakou cestou :-)

rumunsko, zdá sa, nebolo. rumuni majú snáď najšpinavšie vlaky v celej európe. aj susední ukrajinci a moldavci na tom boli s čistotou lepšie. @@PeteBrandy

This carriage doesn't have en-suite toilets. The only carriages that have a compartments with an en-suite bathroom and toilet are ČD WLABmz (in Deluxe compartments) that run on the EN Slovakia train between Prague and Košice.

BA hl. st. - Priestory pre verejnosť v súčasnej prijímacej budove nepostačujú kvalitou ani kapacitou požiadavkám aktuálnej doby. ŽSR a ďalšie inštitúcie pripravujú ďalší pokus o veľkú rekonštrukciu budovy a priľahlého námestia (stav v r. 2024). Nachádza sa tu: pokladnice dopravcov ZSSK, RegioJet a Leo Express, čakárne (na prízemí i 1. poschodí), viacero bufetov a kaviarní, bankomaty (VÚB, Slovenská sporiteľňa, Unicredit Bank, Poštová banka, Prima banka), Wi-Fi, výťahy pre cestujúcich na nástupištia, úschovné skrinky, úschovňa batožín, 2 automaty IDS BK. Stanica bola sprevádzkovaná 20.8.1848 ako koncová pre trať z Viedne v budove na Šancovej ul. 1 ("Prvá budova", t.č. už len ako budova Ministerstva vnútra). 16.12.1850 sprevádzkovaním trate z Budapešti cez Štúrovo, Nové Zámky a Galantu vznikla i provizórna budova na mieste, ktoré cestujúci využívajú až do súčasnosti. V r. 1871 bola dokončená už plnohodnotná murovaná ("Druhá") budova, ktorá dobou prešla len menšími úpravami. Narastajúcimi požiadavkami na kapacitu bola v r. 1989 dokončená jej prístavba ("Tretia" budova - Skleník).

To tom voze co odjíždí s EN Slovakia vím, ale jezdí myslím jen ve všední dny, ten vůz pak čeká přibližně 2 hodiny v Žilině na ranní Tatran do Bratislavy. Jinak se dá ještě využít lůžkový vůz co jede jižní trasou přes Zvolen a nové Zámky (R Pol'ana), ale ten nejede z pátku na sobotu.. takže jediná možnost byl Zemplín.. ale díky tomu jsem stihl ranní Slovenskou střelu do Prahy :-)

@@PeteBrandy Kdyby dvě hodiny...ve směru Košice - Bratislava čeká v Žilině čtyři hodiny a v opačném směru bez dvou hodin dokonce šest hodin. A jezdí opravdu ve všední dny, ale zdaleka ne všechny. Nicméně na plnohodnotné vyspání to může být zajímavé.

Ano, v anglických textech to tak bývá s tím že čas je po 12 hodinách am / pm. Ale v odjezdech nebo odletech se v Evropě používá většinou 24 hodinový časový údaj a to včetně britských dopravců.

This train mostly has older cars that are not adapted for wheelchair users. However, there are day trains adapted for the travel of wheelchair users operated on this route every 1 to 2 hours.

U ZSSK je to celkem běžné, protože většina jejich nočních vlaků zároveň jezdí jako Rychlík se sedačkovými vozy, takže se tím oddělují části vlaku a navíc ZSSK lůžkové vozy nemají zvenku uzamykatelná kupé.

To je pravda, tyto WLAB vozy jsou skanzen, ale mají i své výhody, když pominu otevírací okna, tak v porovnání s novými lůžkovými vozy jsou tyto starší lépe odhlučněné a není tolik slyšet hlasy z vedlejších kupé.. Myslím že vozy Bmx (ex. 050) již nejsou v pravidelném provozu, možná jen jako zálohy. V létě jsem na jeden narazil při čekání v Břeclavi, tak jsem si jej alespoň vyfotil včetně interiéru. Jinak v okolí Prahy jsou v sezóně provozovány společností KŽC dva tyto vozy na výletním vlaku Rakovnický rychlík, jeden je dokonce označen jako Amx podle jediného již nedochovaného vozu 1. třídy z této řady. Myslím že znovu vyjedou někdy na jaře, takže se chystám s nimi projet :-)

It's really a shame that they didn't keep the Excelsior as a seasonal train. Could have extended it from Cheb to Nuremberg, giving the germans a direct train to the ski resorts in Slovakia.

I remember that back in 2017 there was a through sleeping car from Cheb to Košice / Humenné, which was connected to the Rx Egrensis train.
