Welcome to another Southwest trip report!
On April 23, I flew from Las Vegas McCarran International Airport to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on a Southwest 737-800. This was my first time doing a trip report on their -800, and I must say the seats were amazing! They feature a generous 32 inches of pitch and the widest seats of any other 737 variant at 17.6 inches.
I hope you enjoy the trip report!

I have flown Southwest myself and I really love the open boarding policy because I am 6 foot and 6 inches I can pick an emergency exit row Which I need badly. I just love your trip reports! Keep up the great work!

Man, nice video! Believe it or not, I flew to Las Vegas for the first time in my life on June 25th, 2019, four days after you uploaded this video. I live in El Paso, Texas and that trip was my parents college graduation gift from them to me. When we went back to El Paso on June 30th, we took off opposite of you guys. where the strip was on the right side of the plane. Fortunately I saw it and recorded it but accidentally deleted it :(. Overall, this was a great trip report. You and KG Aviation NEVER disappoint. By the way, that jazz at the end had me dancing. I LOVE jazz!

All 800 series (older ones) are in the phases of being retrofitted with the new seats. All 8300 series had the Evolve interior along with standard winglets before refurbishment and retrofit if the Split Skimmitar Winglets and new seats. Whatever 800’s that have the older seats will be retrofitted with the new seats like the one you were in. N8314L was built in 2012 as all in the N83XX series have all completed refurbishment!

Wow. I thought the heart interior was only present on the -800s that were 6 years old and under. I just flew on 2 -800s (one 10 years old the other 8) and both still had the evolve interior.

Prefer the new livery. Keep up the awesome work Quintin! FYI, when the plane is losing altitude, it is spelled "descent", not "decent". Otherwise, a perfect and entertaining video... especially the takeoff view of the Strip and the banter between you and your travel companion! :)

There not even low-cost ahaha atleast outta lax all there flights are 300 plus on a good day; you can go Delta American United frontier spirit etc for fat less.. Southwest used to be my guys I flew on my first flight a 737 back with there brown an orange livery

Another awesome video Quintin! What's with the Baconator burger? LOL. I happen to love Community Coffee! I have to order it online as very few stores in Iowa sell it! Again an awesome enjoyable video! I have a friend flying to the States in November. I keep thinking I should encourage them to connect onto Southwest once they arrive from the Philippines! I'm about 50/50 on SWA flights, only about half the SWA flights I've taken were full, the other half were empty. My most recent trip was a 1/2 full MAX 8 going out (DEN-PDX) about a month before the MAX was grounded, going back was on a -700 that was about 2/3rds full. I've flown on SWA flights years ago that were just as empty as the one in this video.

I like the new livery way better than the old one! Also I don’t get to fly Southwest’s 737-800s very often! 95% of my Southwest flights are Sacramento-Orange County and they usually put 737-700s on those flights. I feel like the 737-800s are a way better experience.

I fly Southwest often and I like their new interiors better. I just wish they would bring back more flights to Long Island MacArthur Airprort. (ISP) To bad they won't make a hub at the Three Major NY Airports either. (JFK, LGA, or EWR)

You should try flying into RDU Raleigh-Durham. Small but pretty cool place to fly. Terminal 1 is SWA and Terminal 2 is everybody else.

American Airlines published "retirement schedule of flights" for MD-80 on september 4th . Could be great if you will report one . Very last flight DFW-ORD is booked out already but many other are still available. I planning to book one roundtrip for two different MD-80 before sep 4th but many your subscribers have no chance to say " good bye "...

I'm assuming that's your younger brother eating the burger,sitting in the row ahead of your? Upon boarding the -800,odd placing of that countertop,takes up some valuable seating space--because I'm over 21(and then some!)I would've have gladly moved some rows up to obtain a free 'adult beverage'! With the a/c mostly empty,has the feel of a repositioning flight,I'm guessing it was the last flight of the day from LAS--how did you get that view of Vegas from the highway? Did you overnight in PHX or does SWA have a red-eye to NYC?

I prefer the New livery on the 737-800 Because, they had Wi-Fi on board and the seat in front of you, they didn't had IFE But I wish they had IFE. And I did like the new Boeing Sky interior it looks like Copa Airlines on their 737-800 But they have IFE on their 737-800 with split scimitars. And for Christmas in December I fly all the time to Peru on Copa Airlines before. But on this December I'm going on American airlines this time because right now the ticket to Peru on Copa is $ 10,0000 imagine how much money it would cost.

So SWA doesn't have the widest 737 seat anymore. The United MAX 9 has an 18 inch wide seat. Though by virtue of the MAX being grounded SWA has the widest 737 seat among planes not grounded.
