If I saw someone do this in the warm up for my event I'd feel equally awed and totally disheartened. This is so amazing to see. Roller skating needs to be in the Olympics!!! It's long overdue!!
@Njx0633 жыл бұрын
it's easier since you have way more support plus it's not as smooth as figure skating and you can barely do spins
@rubymcdonagh39713 жыл бұрын
It would be hard though, there are a lot of things you can do while figure skating but not while roller skating
@indysk8r323 жыл бұрын
@@Njx063 wait... roller skaters can barely do spins? You mean like a inner back and outer back, outer forward and inner forward sit spins, heel camels, inverted camels, traveling camels, catch foot spins (Bielman and I-spins)... all those spins. I know I’ve left several out (broken ankle spin to name one). With many skaters easily doing 8+ revolutions per position? We can barely spin? I must’ve missed something. And we actually have LESS support as our boots for free skating are typical much softer and not as hard as they use in ice. And our wheels can tend to roll every which way unlike a blade. I am NOT saying ice is easy to do- I am NOT. I am definitely saying that roller skating is NOT easier than ice.

I knew someone would eventually do this. It's great to see the sport evolve like this. I hope that someone will soon have quadruple salchows or toe walleys to post if they haven't already.

The first 3A's were done in competition in 2001 and 2002.. then there were more by 2006.. and none since, sadly.. I suspect there are many on the way with the rise of the teen stars.

Very well done jump! I used to do double axels on roller skates and we never used the rubber toe stops. I gained heigth on the jump only by bending the knees and thrusting forward with right leg apron entry into the axel (standard CCW rotation for right handed person). The only jumps we used the rubber toe picks were for specific toe jumps (mapes, lutz's, flips, toe walley).

He was rolling faster on the landing than on the takeoff, so the jump not only sprang up, it had some travel across the floor as well. He probably could have done loop- triple loop at the end of that.

Loop?
@bobarmbrusterjr1830 Жыл бұрын
Boekle. Not sure that is spelled right. skating forward on right foot, jump off that right foot with 1 1/2 revolution, land backwards on same foot. Not done very often, but not terribly difficult.

ok guys. i am jumping a 3 Axel (i am a figure skater). is it much harder to do it on roller skates ?
@yeonjun4thgenitboy2722 жыл бұрын
Personally I find it harder on roller skates as they are MUCH heavier and I find wheel less smooth than skating on ice
@Ely-yi6sb7 ай бұрын
A little bit late, but as the comment above said, a triple axel on roller skates is way more difficult than on ice, the weight of the skates with the wheels are enormous

Not everyone has access to ice rinks to skate on. I live four hours from the closest ice rink. So if a person wants to skate artistically then their best bet is to roller skate.

This video is literal proof that it's not a bootleg copy of figure skating
@patimuse6 жыл бұрын
Respect to all skaters and their talent & hard work, but the moves originated on ice by ice skaters so roller skating is a copy of the original form. Fair or not, the reality is: it's always the First that counts, not the imitators. What major moves originated on roller rinks then copied on ice? When roller skaters invent a new move, they won't be the copy anymore.
@matilderibeiro70596 жыл бұрын
patimuse we do have moves that figure skaters don’t have. Do you even know what is “obrigatory figures”?
