Alvin ...I guided a gentleman the other day from Texas. He told me the story of how the Guadalupe Bass became the "official" fish of Texas. He was the principal of the intermediate school in Decatur back in 1989 and their 3rd grade class was studying Texas history and they asked him why there was not a state fish of Texas. The question led from one thing to another and eventually led to the state adopting the fish after the student led initative! You probably knew that story already but it was neat to hear it from him. It's hot here in Colorado ...but we are getting afternoon monsoon rains so things are good!

100 degrees yesterday, fishing from shore on a concrete apron for bluegill. Energy faded fast. Plenty of bites on a #12 black foam bug only 3 nice ones at 8.3 inches or so.

just returned from a "fishing" vacation where we battled the heat, nothing on the fly but short hits kept it interesting. Changed to trolling deep lakes 3 evenings and 3 mornings 4 fish a little better size between 3 and 17 pounds. But bummed couldn't figure out the fly fishing either in lakes or streams. Looks like I gotta visit Texas sometime.

That first strike was crazy. I seen your rod bend when you strip set it. Wasn't a trout set.

The struggle is real!!! do I strip set or trout set lol its the struggle of a multi species angler!!! I find myself strip setting stocker trout without thinking sometimes

I just moved back to the Central texas area and this heat is something else. I am getting off the water by 9 because it's too hot. You look liked you had a blast on this trip.

Is there a noticeable difference between 30 yard spools of fluorocarbon tippet vs a 100 yard spool, such as Vanish?

It has been so hot here in Junction but the South Llano is still productive. Bass fishing has not slowed down for me!
