Very Cool Video! It is beautiful to have Triple Trouble Back ! Even tough I respect your Retirement from beeing a profenssional Archer (and i think i can somewhat understand your reasons) , i'm still sad i can't watch you shoot any more Sjef! Please keep it coming, one of the best TT videos so far imho. (I've watched them all) Love you Sjef, you're a great Person (Also, tell Gjis -who is probably busy shooting- and Jaap -who is probably busy building bows- that we miss them)

Obviously you are a professional, but I still think it’s so cool that you guys keep proving that you don’t need top tier equipment for high scores, and also that people back in those days were able to shoot so well even with less opportunity for support than now. Keep it up! Love the video as always

Loved this! Always great to see you shooting Sjef! My first (and only) bow is from around this period - 2001 in my case - and I have the Beiter Centralizers without the end weights. So it was really cool to see you take a now-vintage bow out for a spin and do it proud. Speaking as a long-away archer who is only now coming back to archery after nearly 20 years away, it's been a great pleasure watching your channel and your videos with all the guys. I've found the videos most helpful, informative, and immensely enjoyable and this is one of my favourites. I appreciate your humbleness and respect of the 90s era archers too. There's some real legends of the sport from that time. I wonder if you'd consider releasing the full long-form (i.e. not sped up) version of your 596 shoot. With or without commentary (almost ASMR-like), just so we can watch your shooting form etc. Many thanks again. Can't wait for the next video!

I also love these vintage bows! And I would be very happy if I could shoot a 587, independent from the equipment and state of training... Your second best video, since the 200€ vs 2000€ bow challenge. It would be very interesting to see the cheap/expensive comparison done from a "normal skilled" archer.

This is a very good concept. I am going to bet that it is about the spread of information and increase in knowledge that has made archery and archers better in the modern day. I don't think it is the equipment that is giving the higher scores. It's not just archery knowledge, it's diet, exercise, sports medicine, sports psychology, all of these things had large leaps in advancement due to the information age.

I love seeing vintage freestyle recurves! Though I have to confess, for someone my age it does sort of hurt to admit they're vintage now. In regards to sights, the Shibuya Dual Click was released in 1999 and it's technically been around before that under a different name. If you're looking for a more European style sight, IIRC the Carbofast recurve sight is also from the late 90s. The sight pin isn't much larger than what you have on that AGF, but the red colour is pretty visable.
@josh28874
@josh28874 2 жыл бұрын
I think it was the Shibuya RX-10 sight you are talking about that was the predecessor to the Dual Click.
@tamara8872
@tamara8872 2 жыл бұрын
@@josh28874 Yep, that's the one. They upgraded the extender to be more adjustable, but everything else is really similar/the same. I don't see the old version too often though, so it may be difficult to find in Europe. Most folks I've seen with vintage bows have an AGF, the Carbofast or maybe an Arten. Oh, now that I think about it, the Arten Olympic sight (introduced in 1993) wouldn't look bad on a bow that age either. Unfortunately it does have a dark pin that's not all that visable, but its looks and Arten's history make it an interesting choice for a vintage Olympic recurve.

I'm not sure that modern equipment is any more accurate than older equipment for indoor shooting. I think a good archer from today could take my 1976 equipment and shoot a good score. The human still has to operate the bow so it has to fit them and they have to have confidence in it. If a good archer thinks the old equipment would work then they can shoot a good score with it. There is an advantage outdoors- modern equipment is faster and the arrows would have less drop at longer distances and probably would resist the wind better. I was not a professional shooter and didn't shoot as much as a lot of people do these days. We would shoot about 5 hours a week. In college my best score in competition for the indoor face at 18M was 570.
@TripleTroubleArchery
@TripleTroubleArchery 2 жыл бұрын
With 5 hours of training a week that’s a very respectable score! I agree on the longer distance part, the main purpose of the video is to pay my respects to the generations before mine and to show that the amount of fun you can have with an older bow is unlimited:)

How about getting back to shooting properly Sjef? In spite of what the manufacturers say, almost all of the best archers are the best, because of what THEY put into the sport! There are some individual things that are a big help, for instance, I found that a low wrist and reshaping my own handgrip felt much better! But mostly it's the work you are able to put in! If you can't, for whatever reason, shoot any more, at least go into coaching?
