This is probably the first economy class review of a A321LR. Most KZfaqrs just review the “business class”...most of us will only fly economy making this the real world experience how to is to fly in this aircraft! And this is why this is one of the best KZfaq channel...real world experiences for real people.

Acho q seria mais ao contrário, logo q nós portugueses só vivemos de influência brasileira, Ao contrário deles q quase nem sabem da existência de Portugal e de outros países de língua portuguesa, eu vivo em São Paulo e isso é bastante notável. Não leve isso para o lado pessoal, pois ninguém falou de país, e sim de companhia aérea, já que a azul possui 72% de capital da TAP. Consequentemente será melhor. Pensa antes de falar.

If any of you go to Porto, go the pastry shops to get the custard pastries and the south bank of the Douro river has all the wineries with the port wine tasting rooms. lots of shopping centers too. Auchan and Continental are really good grocery stores

The problem with narrowbody long haul is the aisle and area in front of restrooms aren’t big enough to walk around. You also cannot really stand at your seat because of the low storage compartment.

I'm really impressed with the A321neoLR. Airbus is also making an A321 XLR with even longer range. Downsizing long range fleets and upsizing narrowbodies has been the trend for years, so the A321neoLR / A321 XLR is perfect.

10:06 The competition! UA's B757 flight from Newark is typically scheduled about one hour earlier than TAP's flight on the same route, so the engines are probably still hot as you pass by the ramp! It's obviously a much older aircraft but the cabin would have been recently refurbished and most passengers wouldn't be aware of the age of the airframe. It's a broadly similar passenger experience, at least in the cheap seats at the back. Currently (June 2022) TP is flying the A330-900 on the EWR-OPO route, and EWR-LIS is getting 2x A321neos. I'm sure they change it up seasonally as demand dictates.

I had a pleasant experience with TAP a few years ago, flew Barcelona to Lisboa and Lisboa to Sevilla!, service was great, prices were competitive too, the only downside is that they do not seem to announce Gate or Departure changes in any language besides English lol.

It feels weird watching this on Good Friday, knowing that across the world, entire fleets are grounded, and that we never know when any of us can fly again. In reply to those who are asking why there is clapping, the answer is simple: - it is simply a Portuguese habit to do it upon landing. I recall it happening as far back as the early 80s on TAP flights from Joburg to Lisbon. Essentially, it is a way of saying "hallelujah, we've landed", and is an expression of thanks to the crew and cabin staff for a safe flight.

Agree, EWR is a 3rd world airport to have the displeasure of using. I hope Air NZ will use the UA terminal when they commence nonstops this year. 15.5hrs non stop, 17.5hrs on return.

@@RoadCone411 those plane were not jet and you know right that before the 777 plane with less than 3 engine couldn't fly across the antlantics for commercial flight? The 777 was a revolution and the 777 open the possibility for smaller plane to be certified to cross the Atlantic so yes it's been done since the ww2 but since there was regulation and since we are no longer using propeller plane for long distance commercial so it is still very impressive.

@@sup3rpiggi354 How exactly is it “impressive?” The Boeing 707, DC-8 and Comet were all single-aisle jets and crossed the Atlantic routinely, in fact it was they were initially designed for. More recently, the Boeing 757 twin-engined single aisle jet has been crossing the Atlantic for literally 20+ years, opening or maintaining smaller markets. United used to fly them from Newark to London on at least one rotation, connecting not-so-small markets. I just fail to see how this is impressive, it literally makes no sense especially when the flights aren’t considerably longer than transcontinental US flights. Is the fact those are flown by single-aisle planes “impressive” too?

Thank you very much for this video, It helped me to choose a flight from Lisbon to Newark in a A321LR. It was the first time I knew about this airplane and I wasn't sure if a transatlantic flight in a narrow-body aircraft would be pleasant but this video showed me there's nothing to worry about. After my flight, I'll add an extra comment to share any further detail of my own experience

I think this is the future, maybe not just yet but in 10 years I can see smaller aircraft making the jump over the pond much more regularly. I have a feeling EZY etal are just waiting for the cost/mile to come into range and they will be all over it. My first ever transatlantic flight was on a 757 200 and this was before IFE! The best we had was drop down TVs which you could not see and it was pot luck of your headphone jack worked or not. We had to do the trip over 2 legs too. Ahhh the good old days!

Flew TAP LHR-LIS-PDG and it was great. Very good short haul product with food included. Old aircraft very well refurbished, much better than BA's offering.

Air Transat also has a solid A321LR-product. I flew with them from Switzerland to Canada. The plane was then two months in service. Was a great experience!

Brilliant video! You got a really nice wing view on an A321neo LR. You're super lucky to fly on it because it's a modern plane and not much airlines have it on their fleet nowadays. It looks quite comfortable to fly on an A321neo LR in long-haul routes since the IFE is modern and sensitive, the legroom is big, and the plane have the middle lavatory, quite strange to the A321s. Very interesting trip report.

It is wonderful. The design of the aircraft and legroom area look like on large aircraft. There is an entertainment screen for each seat so A321 XLR is not a bad choice for long flight

The good thing about short haul planes on long haul flights is that it’s way more efficient. This is a way flying gets climate friendly step by step. TAP is going in the right direction

What's 'not the best' about it? It looks pretty clean and modern to me. The IFE is a state-of-the-art bank up-to-date system and the food is about what one would expect in economy from a flight of this length. Legroom is not great but it is definitely adequate and the seats seem to be comfortable and well-padded. What's not to like? Sure, there are people who prefer a widebody but on a six hour flight, is it really that important? Most transcontinental US flights are about the same block time and the vast majority are single aisle planes like the A320/A321. Besides, ever been on a B777 widebody with 10-abreast seating? Many airlines like AA, BA, and UA squeeze 10-abreast on these planes. I like the B777 but 10-across means the seats are narrow. If flying economy, I'd rather be on a UA B757 or TP A321.

By the way........ I like the little TAP logo pattern on the inside of the large winglets, they look very cool!! Nice cabin interior and good to see every seat has in flight entertainment screen!! Internet is quite pricey but as the seat price was very cheap, it's to be expected.

jjaus exactly what I think when I see so many reviewers completion about 7 or 10 hour flights being 'tiring' or long. Just us on a 24 hour Australia - Europe flight or a 15 hour one to the USA just to get anywhere decent.

Yes, coming from New Zealand- 26 hours to Europe (two legs of 12 and 14) via Hong Kong.....that is long haul!

Same interior as Philippine Airline A321 Neo. Same seat design and same personnel IFE and seat pitch are great. Feel like flying wide body aircraft.

This aircraft is suitable for point to point long haul flight between low demand cities, or long haul flight between bigger cities to smaller one, or performing 6th freedom flight for a countries with best geographical position like Iceland (Transatlantic), and Middle East for example.
