Hats off to anyone who can hit those high notes. Reba owned this song. I saw her sing it live. Saw Reba alot in the 90's. She was always on pitch. That's when they sang live. Trisha does a very good job, I pity most fools who would even attempt this song.

I have seen Trisha 22 times in concert and met her 9 times in person. She is without a doubt, the most genuine sincere sweetest person you could ever imagine. Once I even made her smile on stage in Seattle and she had no idea it was me. Not a stalker, just a fan who completely loves her voice and her songs. Sadly, she and Garth are retired. I'll never understand why?

This song, and Trisha Yearwood's voice take me back to the early 90's. First started liking country back then. Trisha's voice is rich, smooth and fantastic.

Shes the best one for this song. Love you Reba Girl, but this one, belongs to Ms. Trisha!

NO ONE can sing this like REBA!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't care how great their voice is............but Trisha did do a great job. So did faith at the CMT Giants Special honoring Reba. In their defense, this has got to be the hardest song of hers to sing. I give them both props! FYI........This was from the 40th annual ACM Awards. The did something special for it, to honor those special artists who have done so much, and accomplished these special awards.

I just Listened to Both Faith Hill & Trisha Yearwood's videos singing Reba "You Lie" and it is totally clear that Trisha Yearwood's rendition is so much better than Faith Hill's. She does an absolutely fantastic job, not to say Faith Hill's version isn't good as I am a big fan of both.

This was a special the ACMs did where they had country artists celebrate other artists who one a certain number of ACMs. Reba was honored for winning the Female Artist of the Year four years in a row in the 80s.

This song is incredibly difficult to perform live. A lesser vocalist would have embarrassed herself, but Trisha delivers as usual. I'd like to hear a recorded version that allowed her to "make it her own," but I think she won't tread on Reba's turf.

@catseye664.....Faith? power and range? I like Faith, too, but Trisha could out-sing Faith on any song, any day of the week. I'm sure millions of people would agree :)

I like Reba's twang and highs better but this version is a close second and to even be compared to Reba is an honor in itself.

The announcer said the song is called "You Lied" haha but anyway Trisha did a very good job covering this. :)

I truly love her voice. Besides Reba and Dolly, she's my favorite country artist.

All in all - I love Trisha's voice. I like this song, though I like other Reba songs much more. Someone else commented that it's a hard song to sing - and I think that's totally right. It's difficult vocally and emotionally to put over. Reba does a great job at both. I think Trisha does a great job with this song (better than Faith Hill did on the CMT Giants special). And while I agree that Trisha did a really nice job on If I Had Only Known, I still prefer Reba's version.

I don't really know for sure, I think it was 2005 on some kinda of special like "Country Music Honors" or something like that... among the singers honored there were Barbara Mandrell (Reba sang for her) and Reba McEntire.

@meredithchandler73 Reba's version is awesome yet I think Trisha did a very good job, although I still prefer Faith's version over Trisha's (but that's because I absolutely and unconditionally love Faith) :) And yes: this is a very difficult song to sing.

@Bree2615 жыл бұрын
They have very different voices, Reba's is clearer and a little higher, Trisha has more of a hoarse voice, you can't quite compare them. I do think they both are perfect in their own ways.

Also I guess the person that slammed Trisha Yearwood for singing this song wasn't intelligent enough to realize that The video is from a special "A Tribute To Reba McEntire" and that is where her peers honor her by singing her songs. Also this person apparently doesn't realize just how many of the songs Trisha Yearwood recorded first that were later recorded by another artist. If an artist wants to record a song someone else has released there is nothing wrong with it. It is just personal taste to which version is preferred.

@jimd24636 жыл бұрын
Interestingly better than Reba.
@JosephTsuiArias15 жыл бұрын
IMO, this is not even a marginally good song. But it was a hit because Reba can take a mediocre song and sell it. I'm a huge Trisha fan, but Reba can sell this song better. Maybe I'm too harsh on Trisha, but Trisha needs a good song to stand out; when she sings the good/great songs, she rocks my world. Check out "If I Had Only Known", a much better song and Trish made everybody cry and "Lying to the Moon" - original by Matraca Berg - the original was haunting but Trish's version makes me weep.

faith to me has never had the best voice....even after her throat surgery somehow improved her voice.....listen to her first album then her third album....her first album faith's vocie kinda shaky but the surgery made her voice sound a bit better
@xtinafan064 жыл бұрын
Way out of her 2-note range.
@catseye66412 жыл бұрын
I think Faith Hill sang this song better than Trisha. Faith just has more power and range in her voice, and Trisha doesnt hit the high notes as weel as Faith. And obviously Reba sings this song better than anybody, lol.
