At the most distant recesses of our Solar System lay the ice giant planets, Uranus and Neptune. We have only managed to visit these worlds once, and as such we know considerably less about the moons that orbit them. However, one moon stands out from the rest - Triton. Today, we will examine its unique features, and also relive the story of how this Kuiper Belt object came to be Neptune's largest satellite. The Lesser Worlds - Episode #2

You don't condescend whatsoever, everything is put into laymen's terms, and the messages you convey are concise and easily grasped. Accounts like yours have helped rekindle my love for science, and changed my perspective on the concept of human existence itself. I only hope that the seeds that you and others plant, grow and develop in a time when humanity can travel the stars in search of new worlds and new knowledge. I'll make sure to share this video. You usually don't appreciate it or think too deeply about it when you hear about planets far from the sun being cold and dim, but if you think about it, it means that the universe itself is a place of endless midnight. All the sci-fi movies where you see starships cruising around interstellar space as if lit in the daytime (necessarily, for a movie), in reality they'd just be pitch black shadows against the stars. And on Earth, "night" and "winter" are just the conditions of deep space seeping down to the ground when the little bubble of daylight around our sun is blocked out, and we feel for a moment the abyssal depths of space momentarily pushed back by the little candle we circle around.

Finding a quality youtube channel with zaero (or few) ads during the video intro, mid, or outro is very hard to find. I'm sure SEA has been tempted and offered many times of these types of advertising opportunities. I'm proud to be subscribed to this channel.
@sea_space
@sea_space Жыл бұрын
I appreciate that, and have deliberately strayed away from product placements because my channel’s money maker is the view duration. People watch for long because there’s not that 45s of ads at the start. I have to ask though, what are your thoughts on me getting a sponsor? Not a product placement, just a little sponsor logo which flags up for a few seconds during my intro. No voice or anything, just a little logo. I’m thinking perhaps this would be an acceptable line for my channel, but a fair few people seem to value the non-corporate aspect, so I’m keen to hear your thoughts on less intensive sponsorship.

The problem is that Triton is a LONG way away. Counting the time to build an orbiter as well it could literally be 30 years before we get anything back. Note that Voyager 2 took 13 years just to fly there and zoom by. To get into orbit could take much longer, especially as that would make the mission cheaper.

Loving this video! Very well-done and narrated. I have heard another theory, which is that Triton was orbiting another planet, which got swallowed by Neptune; leading to Triton's capture by Neptune. I love how the scientists always say to see if it's habitable. I guess if you like 450 degrees below zero yeah it's great place to live

So true....I don't give a damn about microbes on some Jupiter moons where there is no higher form of life possible. We should pour a lot more resources into detecting and defending against asteroids

@@Dilley_G45 lol there is a sector that is dealing with that. Amazing thing with science you can concentrate on more then one thing.

@@admiralsnackbar69 true .... But priorities....always time for Jupiter's moons after we survive

@@Dilley_G45 The reason scientists are so obsessed with microlife is it would prove life does exist outside of earth, and it would provide the first tangible data on how normal life is in the universe. If we get the data and get a better understanding of how life forms, what sustains it etc. We can start calculating more accurately the chance of intelligent life and where to find it. Scientists love the idea of finding life in these impossible places as it would prove life is abundant in the universe. As for priorities, we have hundreds of ICBMs that would be better fitted with probes than weapons of mass destruction.
