Triumph Street Triple 765 RS vs Speed Triple 1200 RS how do both bikes compare?
In this video, I get straight off the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS and take out the 2023 Street Triple 765 RS to see how these two bikes compare and which one is the better bike.
Which bike would you buy?
I also attend the opening of Triumph Maidstone with my friend AJ The Honest Biker where we get to test ride the Street Triple 765 RS for the first time.
Thanks to Triumph UK for collaborating and loaning me the Speed Triple 1200 RS and Triumph Laguna Maidstone who kindly loaned me a 2023 Street Triple 765 RS for the day.

Nice comparison on the speed and street triple, both fantastic machines and great colours although I did like the yellow more , personally for the money I think I'd go for the 765 seems a lot of bike for the money, as for the tyres never rode on those , but I think I'd like something more suitable for the wet weather too , hope all's well Phil 👍🏻

Thanks Dale! They are both great bikes and the 765 RS is without a doubt a lot of bike for the money. I used to own a yellow FZX 750 in bright yellow, but I’m not sure if I would personally buy a yellow one, you know me and my colour coordination, but it does look great I must admit! 🙌

Some really nice filming mate. I actually own the 2023 Street RS. Mine's in red. Had the cruise control fitted, heated grips, tail tidy and radiator guard, which is a must in my opinion. I am switching the Pirelli's to Roads 6's. As you said, the Supercorsas are amazing in the dry but don't feel so good when it's wet. As to the harsh ride, you can easily adjust that and the manual makes it really easy. They give clear instructions on how you can set it without being an expert. I've had mine set for my weight and also to the ROAD settings listed on the manual. It's perfect! One other thing I wish to mention is that you can switch rider modes while you're riding, which is convenient. The bike also remembers what rider mode you're on when you switch it back on. I came from a Yamaha MT09SP which felt gruntier but this Triumph is so much better in the handling department.

Let me know how you get on once you have swapped your tyres over, I’m sure you won’t notice the difference in the dry with the Road 6’s but you definitely will in the wet! I'm like 30 yo and own a mt-07, I have a moto licence since this summer and rode a full season. Was thinking of getting a Triumph next year in Summer and was eye-ing the 765 RS and 1200 RS. Would you consider the 1200 RS an overkill or too much for some one with only one season? I'm not a speed demon by any means, but I really like the look of the Single Swingarm on the Speed, I'm actually more worried about the weight, I like doing twisties a lot and don't have many highways in my country.

Hi. Thanks for your comment. As I always say, you can have an accident on any size bike, even if you are going slow. If you have a lot of self control then you will be fine on the 1200 RS, it may test your discipline but so would the 765 RS. Get yourself on an advanced rider course, it is well worth it and get them to advise you on your riding! Let me know what you decide to do! 😁👍

Have a street triple R, previous version. It was fitted with Pirelli Rosso 3. Great tire, also in lesser weather. For the new set I upgraded to Pirelli Rosso 4 and these tires seem to do even better. If I were to go for new ST RS I would have the Supercorsas changed to Pirelli Rosso 4 or similar tires right from the start. As I am not riding on a race track and in normal road conditions hitting a rain shower is sometimes unavoidable.

lovely review that. Without riding either bikes I would go Street Triple for looks and price. Price: With the difference you could have the S.T 765 and could still buy an elderly GS 1200 LC too for ploughing through really shitty weather. Looks : I'm not keen on the Tubular bars that wrap around the front end of the 1200RS the 765 looks sleeker without them. Ideal world : You could be TMF and have all three.

My wife has an ‘18 765RS that I I love dearly with the exception of the leg room. I have a dream garage full of superbikes, and I want to ride the Street Triple more often than not than than my own bikes-If I could get a 765RS with legroom, I’d probably not want to ride anything else because it’s such a wonderful bike and doesn’t drink gas or destroy tires… I’m fed up with tires lasting a dozen rides and 100 mile tank range issues. I was really excited for the Speed Triple 1200RS to come out, and even more so when I got the chance to sit on one and saw it had the leg room I was looking for. Fast forward a year and I got to ride both back to back, and then later again I got to ride the 1200 on curvy roads at speed….. Bottom line is that while, yes, the Speed is faster on motor, the Street Triple is an overall better motorcycle IMO. It’s more fluid and slick-just easier all around. The Speed is a bit stiffly sprung and I could get over that, but the front end is simply not as good, and the forums all say it has the range problems my superbikes do…. Which leaves me with a bit of a conundrum…. Is it time for an Adventure bike?

Thanks for your comment and feedback on the Street and Speed Triple. It does sound like if you want to ride further on a full tank, then an adventure bike might be the answer. Have you considered the Triumph Tiger 1200 or Ducati Multistrada V4S which aren’t slow!

@nunyabidness9257 6 ай бұрын
I haven’t ridden the Multi (yet), but I have ridden the Tiger1200…… and I didn’t like it pretty much at all. The motor was okay, but the chassis just plain sucked-It was twisting riding the bike in a straight line in metropolitan Detroit under heavy throttle…. I can’t imaging hustling it down a backroad at a sporting pace and feeling confident on it. Interestingly, I did rent a Tiger 800 a few years back for a two day trip and it handled quite well for what it is-just not enough motor.@@TheAdventuresofPhilJones

Pirelli angel gt2 a great all round tyre , Ross’a Corsa basically a track tyre ( need heat too perform their best ) I’d always prefer sports touring tyres on a road bike , get a lot more miles per pair too . No need for sports tyres on road , they useless in wet 🤷‍♂️😂sports touring on any roads bike will out perform any road rider , keep sports tyres for track days & racing 😎

Why do you kill the engine noise with unwarrented music ?? Bad news Phil, man buns went out of fashion in the 80's-90's. 765 vs 1200.....but virtually nothing on the 1200 ?

That’s a shame, is it the height of the bikes you struggle with? Those new colours are very popular, I’m pleased Triumph listened to their customers and created a bigger choice, despite me always loving black! 🤣

765 - the street triple has got too much power.. looking for light and some hp but not a crazy amount..
@TheAdventuresofPhilJones
@TheAdventuresofPhilJones 7 ай бұрын
Remember, you don’t have to use all the power. If you like the look of a bike, and it suits your style of riding, then it could be worth considering. The Street Triple is a great bike for riders at all levels and experience.

@@TheAdventuresofPhilJones One tends to use all the power far too often if it's available. At least that's my experience. So I'm feeling comfy around 100bhp. Happy you can dose that properly, I probably can't.

No back to back riding , no dialog while riding (first impressions,.emotions, likes , dislikes ect...he didn't even ride the 1200 . No power ro weight comparison, no equipment comparison, rider positions , fuel capacity, wet weights, service intervals, pricing ? I can go on And on .
