The Triumph Tiger Rally Pro, fantastic for crossing the Alps, the Sahara or Outer Mongolia. But what’s it like for the other 11 months of the year going to work, to the shops or short, day adventurers.
This is the first of 3 videos on the Tiger.

Well I must say one of the hilarious sights on my stunning ride round Scotland on the YB100 was the prevalence of such bikes as this - Tigers, GS’s, Gold Wings etc attempting to negotiate the narrow single lane, twisty roads of the NC500. I’m now back safe having ridden this route at 15-25mph taking in the glory of the west coast of Scotland in scorching sunshine! Not saying that the YB is the ideal bike for doing this ride - I did it as a laugh to challenge me. But you need something you can pick up easily when you drop it by skidding on sheep dung or when you slip off the asphalt ledge six inches down into he gravel and rubble - not that I did that. Surely something like the CRF 300 is a far more suitable tool - I even saw a waif of a girl from Germany on one of these bikes in Braemar - hope she’s ok! Great video again loved it !

Interesting that you say this is smooth Mr Taym. I'm totally confused as to why the 900 feels great but this new 1200 feels so vibey. They both have the silly x-plane firing order. The delight of a triple is the smooth balance. My current Triumph Explorer 1200 XRT (Gen 2version) is that happy blend of torque, and smoothness. All the joys of a multi that I've ridden for years coupled with that low grunt of a twin. Many existing riders think Triumph has messed the 1200 up, making it rumble/vibrate too much. The reality is I don't really need a 1200 and I had to be dragged screaming into the adventure bike world, but I love shaft drive bikes and they are sadly few and far between now after years on ST1300s and 1400GTR. Still up for a mash up when you are free.

One speed (wrong speed) drivers are the best…crawling along country roads, speeding through villages, while being totally unaware of what’s going on around them (usually a tail back of vehicles wanting to attain an appropriate speed down a lovely B-road). What’s not to like? I’m sure it’s a lovely bike, but I’m not sure what extra I’d get from having one over the 900. I’ve toured two up on it in Spain with no power problems, and my preferred riding environment is the B roads of East Anglia - not sure if it would improve those any for me. Let’s face it, the biggest “adventure” type riding experience most of these will do is following the guy in front at the ABR festival.🤭

@@TAYM Cheers TAYM, BV did film just the first couple of minutes, I was OK with him filming more but I think we both knew the topics would be very much against current plans in play. We both feel were already being chastised for our remarks going against the grain of this platform. BV was on his son's BMW R9T as with a young family his son hasn't been able to put many miles on it. It's a lovely sounding bike but I don't think it's quite BV's cup of tea. I was on the KTM which is most certainly his least favourite of my bikes, I think he'd like to have seen me on the ZZR. Unfortunately it and Black Beauty are both facing forwards into the shed, without the help of my teenage son I struggle to reverse them out as it's not just a straight back move and space is tight. Still there'll be many more such meet ups and perhaps if we keep the topic on bikes we can share it with others. I did capture the last few minutes of my journey and the initial meet up on the 360 so you'll see that soon 👍😁😊

@@Adventure_blac Thanks for your reply and advise 👍 I totally get that they do a good job as tourers and that shorter riders can manage them with a little compromise and practice. What I don't get is their popularity despite being top heavy and clumsy? Whilst 99% of riders won't ever use them for what they were supposedly intended and aren't entirely suited for and probably over 50% of owners have them lowered just so they can sit on them and reach the ground. Having said that I see many a woman driving a big SUV whilst struggling to see over the steering wheel.

If I were in the market for a 2-up mile munching tourer, this is the bike I'd buy. That triple engine, shaft drive, and it's a Triumph! I know the BMW-GS 1250 is a solid bike, I see tons of them on the road this time of year, but The Tiger Rally Pro models in 1200 or even 900 have been the bikes I've drooled over for a couple of years. I took one out yesterday because I am looking for a bike which can handle two up and luggage. The bike handles brilliantly to say it’s got a 21 inch wheel. Loved the sound of the engine especially when you take it over four thousand revs. The gear shift up and down was fantastic and the hill hold is handy thing to have. But because I what one for touring two up and doing long mileage the vibrations from the foot begs and handles bars were terrible and made especially my right foot and hands tingling after taking it out and doing about 40 miles. And for doing really slow ridding to take in the views the throttle was really snatching and kept on leaching me forward. So for this reason it would be unbearable for touring even though I want to love the bike, a real shame Triumph 👍
