The XCT is a street touring bike. I have the XCX which is the off road version. I have all the bells and whistles on mine. My bike is AWESOME on serious off road/single track stuff here in the USA. River crossings, tight trails in the woods, no issues. It is a BIG bike and needs to be ridden accordingly. The right tires are everything.

Fantastic video and caught my interest as I have a 2015 explorer xc and love it,only had 4500 miles when I got it and it had heated grips and seat etc and full luggage. Most comfortable and enjoyable riding experience I’ve had on long trips and wouldn’t part with it! Unless there was a big improvement in comfort and with lockdown it seems very unlikely I’m going to be able to test ride any bikes in the coming months so if I remember you said you owned and explorer and wondered if there was any big improvement on the comforter on this new bike thanks for your video just subscribed looking forward to more videos many thanks David

The absolute off road capable version of this bike is the XCX or XCA. These bikes excel at single track serious off road stuff! I have the XCX with all the options and it rocks in the woods here in the Northeast USA! Yes it is big but can do most of what my Yamaha 250 WRX can do. That says a LOT! Cheers! Great Vid!

Great bike I own one myself. Very comfy on long rides, cruise control is great, heated grips are nice like you said not ideal for serious off roading as it is heavy. Great for all weathers although found the triumph luggage does tarnish and scratch easily. There was a recall for brake pads as they deteriorated in winter conditions but that was fixed without any problems. You get used to the diving I don’t really notice it now. It will get you to silly speeds very quickly. However I’m looking at going back to the cruiser style simply because I prefer that style.

Yes it's a great all rounder. Funnily that's why I sold my Triumph too

Mine at 24 months old this week 35k km onboard has had its rear shock replaced under warranty two weeks ago and had major service and exhaust shims done at cost of €1260 euro or over a grand sterling £... and then last week when I got it back the the fan failed in heavy traffic in Dublin City during a lesson with a student in tow on my 2014 ER6N with over 76k km that never seems to give any hassle. Lost confidence for touring going forward as had a European tour planned but doubt I will try with this machine.

Awesome overview of the Triumph. Love seeing the English countryside. Nice review. How do you feel about the iconic KTM 790R ? We have a rider in our group who has won and even 2 up it seems ok. That seems to be a bike that can do anything. Man Cave I think has just bought a 2nd hand one. Am very interested of what you think of that bike. Auckland. NZ

Thanks for the information. I have a deposit on a 2019 XRT and I am concerned about the height. I am 5’9 with a 32” inseam and I was pretty much tip-toed in the showroom. My wife an I are coming off a Triumph Trophy which was considerably lower. The dealer would not allow test drives and I only had a little while on the showroom floor to move the bike around. I have read other horror stories about vertically challenged people dropping this bike often and wanted to get your thoughts.

I know this is an old post, but I have the XRX - with luggage it weighs nearly 600lbs - and fairly top heavy to add to it. I've been riding over 20 years and I wouldn't have bought it if I couldn't flat foot both sides. It would be downright suicidal to be tip-toeing this thing around lol.

I have the 1200xca the seat is adjustable and very comfortable but now with what Ducati is doing I suppose the next tiger generation will have more hp but don't think I will be getting rid of my Triumph any time soon its a good bike all bikes have their pros and cons

Forgot to mention the rear brake pads are not great if you do much slow control work as pads only last about 6k km and cost a lot so I changed to ebs pads with more meat and have lasted past 29k km

If you're looking for long distance touring there are some choices, if you want an off road bike, totally different. I don't think you will find something that's great in both. Pick one.

Too tall for me. I test rode one with my wife in a hilly city and it made me feel like a complete novice. It was super top heavy with the bags and her perched way up high too. Felt like I just wrestled a bear by the time we got back to the shop. Probably great if you have the necessary inseam.

Yep it is that. It was the same when I had the previous bike too

I think if you are less than 6ft and an inseam of less than 30" you will have trouble flat footing the bike. They do make a LOW version which is about 1.5" lower. I have the XCX which is taller than the street XCT. I can flat foot the bike no problem. I LOVE this bike!!!

@@RevelatorAlf Yes, these bikes are very tall! If you are not able to comfortably flat foot the bike, it is NOT for you. They make a LOW version and the 900 is lower too. The 1200 is not made for all riders. If you are not tall enough, it is not your bike.
