Being a British car, the Triumph TR6 will Most likely one day stop running while driving down the road. There are many things that can cause this, but 90% of the time it's either a simple ignition or fuel problem. This video shows how to diagnose which one it may be on the side of the road or in your garage. With a few tools and spare parts stored in your trunk, many times you can avoid a tow bill by fixing it yourself on the side of the road in a safe spot of course.

I notice that you are not using the correct fuel hose clamps, please change them. Also, if you haven't already done it, please make sure that all your fuel hoses are Gates Barticade 30R14 for carbs which will not degrade with the ethanol in fuel. Keep an eye on the diaphragm in any mechanical fuel pump you might be using because if they fail due to ethanol, they can allow fuel to enter the engine!

Correct fuel hose clamp? Do you mean fuel injection hose clamp?

I have a jeep, being an american car it has let me down a few times. My TR6 on the other hand, never has.

The spark should jump to any ground. Valve cover, etc. Isn't the reason for your clear fuel filter to see the fuel flowing?
@bb8215
@bb8215 5 ай бұрын
Yes, I have two clear filters. One before the fuel pump and one before the carburetors. The reason why I mention how to pump the fuel into a jar is that some people do not have a clear filter and are unable to see quickly if they are getting fuel or not.

@@zekehanscom5869 potentially, yes they can be dangerous. But I've been using them for decades without any problem. As long as you mount them safely where they won't break then they shouldn't be a problem. I really don't like the metal ones that you can't see through. I had one disintegrate and send filter particles all through my fuel system. Total mess.

Worthless Video. It is correct to state the cause of a No Start is either Fuel or Ignition. However the average person does not have the Diagnostic Ability or Repair Expertise. These types of videos assume the viewer is at least a 'B' Tech and carries an extra Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, Carburetor, Ignition Coil, Distributor Condenser, or Ignition Switch. Make sure you also carry the necessary tools !

That's the whole idea of the video. To show people that almost anyone can diagnose and fix these cars. They are very simple. A little bit of research will tell them the basic tools they need to do the basic repairs. The problem with these cars, because they are relatively unreliable compared to new cars, is that people spend a small fortune paying a mechanic to do the most basic repairs. There's nothing wrong with teaching someone how to save money by doing the work themselves. Carry a few spares and some basic tools and you can save yourself a lot of cash and hassle. No one is born a 'B' tech as you say. It is learned. Everybody has to start somewhere 👍

@@bb8215 They are not unreliable relative to their average use. You failed to respond to the question of which Tools and Spares are you going to carry ? As a TR-6 owner and ex Automotive Instructor you are out of touch with reality. The logistics of Diagnosing and Repairing your junk in the shoulder of a highway or some country road is absurd. Perhaps you should give a real example of either yourself or someone else that did what you're suggesting.

@@emilefouquet9005 Apparently you failed to watch the entire video. If you watch the whole video, you would see at the end I show what's in the trunk, the tools and the spares I carry. As far as tools go, I just have a small bag full of typical tools. Sockets, ratchets, open end box wrenches, pliers screwdrivers. You know the basic stuff. Everything is SAE. Nothing is metric on these cars. I can give you plenty of examples where I fix the car on the side of the road. Why do you say it's absurd? Because you're not able to do it? And if you are, why would you prefer to call a tow truck? Because of the spares and tools I carry in the trunk, I was able to diagnose and fix a problem on the side of the road three times In the last 3 years and get home without having to call a tow truck. If you call that absurd, then I really don't know how I can possibly reason with you. And, I didn't say that they were unreliable relative to their average use, as you say. I said they are unreliable relative to new cars. If your TR6 is as reliable as a new car, then you are very lucky man! Join a forum or Facebook page dedicated to TR6s and you will find hundreds of posts regarding regular problems with these cars. If you are a mechanic and are knowledgeable about these cars, then do like I do. Join a forum or Facebook page and help people instead of criticizing them. As an "ex-automotive instructor" as you say you are, you should understand the value in teaching people how to repair their cars. 👍
