Triumph Trident 660 - 1 Week Review (A2 Restricted)

After doing 500 miles on the Triumph Trident 660 (A2 restricted), I thought I'd make a video to give you my first impressions on the bike. How comfortable is it? How well does it handle? Is it worth getting an A2 restricted bike? All of these questions and more answered in this video.

How can you tell by riding it that it is restricted? Did you try the top speed? Can you rev it to the maximum RPM even when restricted?

Thanks for a great vid. Am in Australia, where they only sell the restricted Trident. Just wondering how the bike compares (now that you have presumably de-restricted the bike)? Would you still recommend the restricted bike for a more experienced rider?

Very well laid out video, and a great review that, I’d love too know what mic/audio you’re using? As it’s really clear. I cannot wait for my 125 to sell so I can grab one of these, I was toying between Trident and cb650r.. trident wins it for me

Thank you Lee - appreciate you sticking around for the vids! I actually might do a video on the helmet audio setup, cause it took me ages to find something that worked well. Used a bunch of expensive lav mics with recorders, but there was always clipping in the audio. I now just use a £10 wired lav mic that I stuff into my helmet, then record into my iPhone using the Rode Reporter app. Then I sync it up in my editing software. Yeah, I was also between the Trident and CB650R. There is a story (of course involving a Honda dealership that didn't really want to sell the bike) that I'll tell in an upcoming video - pending this rain buggering off.

Thank you for yr. comments about A2 performance. Your bike will have a twin brother in germany (A2, same colour, quick shifter, bloothoot, heated handles a.s.o....very similars to yours). Collection day is scheduled for end next week. Looking forward. Always happy riding

@@AlexDjalo due to bad weather could not ride that much, unfortunately. For me it is close to the perfect city bike. Compact, easy handling with wide torque range. reasonable price for the package with nice retro design and not too aggressive styling. State of the art what refers to LED lights, connectivity a.s.o. Finally, decision is pending on yr. personal needs.

Hey thanks for all the information and feedback you have provided about TT660, I am about to get one so it was a very helpful for me, keep it up 👍🏼. Just wanted to know one small thing, the red decal and the Triumph logo on the tank, are those removable? Or is there a clear coat paint on it? I am planning to buy a white one and I want to remove it.

No worries, pleased you found it useful! Good question. Not easily removable, no. It's not a regular decal that you might be able to remove with a bit of heat. Another thing to note is the tank is plastic, if that makes much difference. I hear you though, I don't particularly love that bit. Would prefer it all black with the traditional Triumph logo like on the Bonnevilles.

I sat on a trident so cool how you can get it restricted for an a2 I will be 19 in June so this is really exciting 😃

Display a little tricky to set up. But trial and error come true in the end

I’m not 100% sure on this but when I look up the learner spec figures for this bike I’m seeing 55hp. Which is a whole 10ish more than my R3 currently

Did you have to install the extras yourself? Heated grips and a2 restriction etc.

Was between this and street triple S for my A2 and for the money I'm going to save I think the trident is the way to go as it's still a good bike compared to the street triple s

Me too Brandon! The Trident is a much better bike for A2 riders, as the restricted version still has a bunch of torque throughout the rev range (only 10% less than unrestricted). It’s got a cracking tech setup and looks the part, plus you’re saving some cash. My aim is to get a Street Triple RS in a few years to get the full Street Triple experience, instead of getting the dumbed down S.

@@monkeyingaround243 I feel the same to be honest. I think triumph's in general are the way to go bike wise I've always absolutely loved them shame they never made a 125 :(. I'm going to test ride a Triumph in a month's time as it's all they've got available test ride wise and my test isn't for 3 weeks anyway so it's worked out perfectly it's going to be my faulty commuter so if it feels good riding wise I'm going to take the plunge and get one
