It seems bizarre to me that Triumph offer cruise control as an optional extra on the RS but not on the R.

Hey man, I’m also in the same boat, I want to get the speed triple R and really can’t see the reason for the RS because I don’t want a track oriented bike but I just wanted to know how tall you are and how you feel riding the street triple R compared to the Trident, the Trident honestly seems too small for me. I am 6 foot two going on 6 foot three and my knee a point on the fuel tank that seems it would be annoying while riding. Also, how do you feel riding your street triple R for long periods of time I understand this comment is a little old, but I just wanted to know.

@@gavinstanley285 hey, I am 1.82 cm tall. Due to some circumstances I got the Street Triple R LRH but I must say it fits like a glove. If I get another bike I might switch to normal ride height, but like I said the lower ride height of this one is not annoying at all. I did several long rides on it now, longest being about 9 hours in the saddle with no sweat or pain at all. Also went on a week tour avoiding any stretch of Autobahn and that is a joy. Only downside is the limited amount of luggage you can take but hey that is the concept of a nakedbike. Upside of this is that the bike retains it handling even when fully packed (topcase, tankbag and rucksack). Handling is a dream. Plenty fast enough for public roads , and very nimble and lightfooted with plenty of stopping power. This bike eats up twisties like there is no tomorrow. 😊. Also like its’ versatility. If you want to ride like a hooligan and wring out the rev band you can and you will enjoy it. If you want to do long stretches with low to mid rpms with a relaxed riding style then the bike takes that on too and that also is enjoyable. I did take it on the Autobahn (D) and there it has plenty of power. I took it up to 200+ kmh but stopped because windblast was too much for me. The bike could do more than that though. There still was something left. When I do take it there I ride at cruising speeds up to 150-170 kmh. That is a nice compromise about still getting somewhere and not having too much windblast for it becoming uncomfortable over longer duration.

@@Zweefduiker I really appreciate it man this really helps my I am honestly thinking that the R is the better choice for my as my first bike seems like your doing well it being your first and the power is just the right amount thank you for all the information your only about 3 inches shorter then me so it seems like it will be perfect for me also I know also I can always upgrade to the RS down the road if I wanted to but I don’t wanna go to the track so that is why the R seems better to me what color did you get and what accessories have you put on and how old are you and how did it feel starting on that bike as your first was it scary or is it take unless your crack the throttle wide open

Hey congrats! I cant really comment on the 765 R as it has different suspension. However it should be even more comfortable for long rides just because its slightly lower and the shocks should be a little softer. Either way, ive done 5 hour rides on mine without pain. Was awesome.

@@motocorn The R should be a bit more relaxed than the RS for sure. But still closer to the RS than to the trident. Also the new R is very similar in dash and controls to the trident. I would love a yellow RS but that's just too much money for me rn. I hope I'll have it in a months or so. I might come back to report my experience if I wont forget about it.

This is around Portland Oregon! Owning both is very strange i wont argue that. However my brother rides the trident sooooo thats mostly the reason i have both haha.

I haven't ridden a moto2 so I cant say, but with the clip ons, I would assume its more of a track bike, than a commuter. Not impossible but if youre tall, it might hurt after a couple hours of riding haha

I would say there's about 0 difference in heat. Both bikes are similar, one is just more sportier than the other. haha

There are two bikes here. I assume youre talking about the Trident. And while i agree it looks best, the black headers is pretty sweet on the zard

Well... TBH since youre coming from a super sport, I would say the Street triple would be more for you. But since youre using it for commuting the trident is more comfortable. Both can have fun in the turns, but they each do things a little better than the other. Trident has better MPG and is more comfortable. But the Street Triple has the option for cruise control (2024) and a TFT screen. Maybe like 10mpg less than the trident. It's tough because I love both. If I had to pick one, for an everyday riders, I would 100% go street triple if its within budget :)

I love everything about the bike, but I’m wondering if I’m going to be missing some of the wow factor. And if so, is that a worthwhile trade off for the reduced sales price, and reduced fuel and insurance cost

2022 R for sure. But its really dependent on what you want out of a bike! Both are great

There is no missing out, these bikes are going nowhere - but you might if you go in too deep.

The trident would probably be the better option coming from the RE. I havent ridden a speed so i cant really say, but thats a MUCH bigger bike (engine size) than the RE, so it might be jumping the gun

I have 1500 miles on it with 0 problems. The reliability issues are from the old old generation bikes. Triumphs are pretty reliable nowadays

No actually I dont. I honestly think the speed triple is just too much bike to really enjoy it. You'll always be on the side of HOLY SHIT with that bike. I think the Street Triple RS is more so the best bike in Triumphs lineup if you want to have something that is dominate in the twists and comfy in the streets. The speed is an animal. The street is perfect for everything.

@@motocorn my bad. I mistyped. It's a 2018 Street Triple RS. Not speed. Hopefully once my arm doesn't hurt as much (a result of my Z400 being totaled) I'll be able to get a test ride going.

I think honestly that depends on Age and Height. Im in my late 20s and only a good 5'6 so for me i dont feel cramped or anything. I did a 300 mile ride and had 0 problems.

Glad you enjoyed! If you mostly ride in the Twisties i wouldnt hesitate to get the 765 R/RS. The trident is a fantastic bike that can do anything but i too think you might get bored coming from a 900rs. However.. The trident is very VERY comfortable for long ride and can still handle very well. Give em both a shot back to back if possible :)

@@motocorn gotcha lol. Yea def recommend Progressive. I have 1 year of experience too. But I also put my MSF cert as a safety course taken in the last 3 years. I think that cert took a decent chunk off of insurance

Id love a V4, however like you mentioned, theyre a bit expensive haha. Silver is great! But the red is hot. I just didnt want to wait till the end of riding season to get one haha

I had a V4S ordered but canceled because by the time I got it to the quality of the Speed Triple I was looking at $30k instead of the $20k for Speedy. The fir and finish of Triumph is better imo and I’ve only owned Ducatis or Harleys prior to my first Triumph. Yes it’s not 208hp but I can make due with 177hp with 95flbs torque. Trust me that extra 5 in torque makes bigger difference than the 30extra hp you’ll never use.

There’s nothing like a Ducati. you will never outgrow the street fighter V4 or the Penigali. They’re Italian art in motion IMO. The ferrari of bikes. Triumphs are great bikes and the triple sound is one of a kind but Ducati’s sound like pure muscle. And the mods will come over time. No need to hit the road with it all done. The Stock Ducati is more than enough machine, sound and muscle stock. Ducati over Triumph any day of the week IMO and I own a triple. I’m pulling the trigger on the Ducati very soon. in closing you will turn heads with the Ducati, not with the Triumph.

I read elsewhere that part of the reason for why the 2023 model has more pep is due to Triumph having used different sprockets. Hence the lower mpg.

While I can totally agree with that, my brother rides the trident now, and its just a really cool bike to have haha

Its for sure an acquired taste on the headlights. They have grown on me a ton. The triples are known for being screamers! More bass isnt in their nature. Youre better going off to a Parallel twin

Yea i mean i have nothing against the MT! Im sure its a fantastic bike. Im just big into fit and finish on things tbh. We both know a yamaha isnt going to have better components than the triumph, but still, if its two wheels its great regardless. Just my preference :)

I switched my bike from Trident to Street Triple finally. Both are good. But, Street Triple is really fun on winding road and I can't stop laughing all that time! BWT, maximum steering angle looks almost same. Anyway thanks for your video!!

it’s Triumph entry level bike, costs had to be kept down. No cruise control on Tiger 660 for the same reason.

Motorcycle deaths are bad enough with the A1/2/A licensing, imagine if 18 year olds in the UK had access to 200hp bikes. That's coming from someone who's had to wait until they're 24 to even start learning. America is free but they die at a way higher rate :/
