This is where it all began. The song was recorded for the first Sakura Gakuin album which was released in 2011. The video came out almost a year later and was recorded on a shoe string budget. The girls even had to borrow parts of their outfits from friends and staff members. There are 4 commentary videos available where the girls revisited their first four songs and commented to them, one of them is Doki Doki Morning, of course. Btw Doki Doki means a thumping heart beat and represents their excitement in the morning, getting ready for school and all that stuff. 🤘🔥🦊

The girls look so young i myself was thinking they got less than 10 yo when I met them with this song around that time. The backing band you saw here are hired actors called "baby-bones", you'll see them performing live during early shows until 2014, after that Kami Band took their places as a real band on stage. They're singing about waking up and going to school while worrying about make-up and usual girl stuff, this a metal song after all 🤘 There's an Air Dance version of this, with the girls dancing in front of the camera in this same room. There's also a funny commentary vid made by the girls telling us more details about the backstage on this song. Watching it now and knowing where they are currently and what they have achieved is mind-blowing. Not only because they were tiny (specially Yui and Moa, haha...) but also the way they humbly started, with no extra budget and having to borrow or improvise their costumes. ⚡ 💀 💕 / 💓 ⏰ Is this very Pop for a Metal song? Sure. It's also a ridiculously heavy song coming from members of a school-themed all girl Idol group. This was their first single, music video, etc. Like a lot of heavy metal songs, the lyrics talk about subjects like which cute hairstyle and lip gloss they should decide on for school. : ) It was this video blowing up on social media that helped BABYMETAL start to go viral, especially outside of Japan. The 'Doki Doki ☆ Morning' DVD single was released October 2011. Suzuka was thirteen, Yui and Moa were twelve. They recorded it a year before that. At this point BABYMETAL were still the "Heavy Music Club" subunit of the school-themed Idol group Sakura Gakuin. Their original budget was so small that Su's coat was borrowed from one of the Sakura Gakuin teachers. Moa's shirt was borrowed from Yui, and Yui's from fellow Sakura Gakuin member Raura. The girls taught the skeleton dudes the dance moves themselves. Pretty much everything that followed was because this video unexpectedly blew up once it was posted online.

Don't worry. Everyone thinks it's Line at first. Doki Doki is a heartbeat. It means exciting. It can also be turned into a verb by adding verb endings. That is not the Kami Band. They didn't exist yet. This was shot Oct 2011. The first appearance of the Kami Band was Dec 2012, and that was a very early version. No BOH yet for example. The full Kami Band didn't come together until summer 2013. The Kami Band also doesn't appear in music videos unless they contain live concert footage.

Haha excellent reaction! Babymetal was the “Heavy Music Club” of a school themed idol group, “Sakura Gakuin”, which Su, Moa, Yui are all apart of. Each club does their own “style” of music and it combines annually to a studio album at annual “graduation”. The entire group debuted their 1st performance in 2010, and Babymetal was of course part of that as well. This MV was released a few years later. Also, Doki Doki = onomatopoeia for “thump thump” of a heart beat, meaning something along the lines of “exciting”. So Doki Doki Morning is just an exciting morning as the girls tries to get up on time and get ready hastily to go to school. Su: “No make up, I’ll use my glasses as a hair pin!” Yui/Moa: “funny face!”🤣

Regarding "Iine", you should check out the newest live version of that from their Clear Night performance. I was pleasantly surprised when I bought the Blu-Ray for their Black Night and Clear Night performances , and that song was on the set list. It was very fun to see them perform that song now that they are in their mid-20s. (Except Momometal - she just turned 20 this year. The Clear Night show is Momometal's first performance as an official member of BABYMETAL by the way.)

Nice reaction. They said they enjoyed teaching the Baby Bones guys the dance routine. I use this song as my alarm clock. Does wake you up. They seemed to really have fun performing this song. They performed this for the 10 years of Babymetal at the Budokan near the start of the covid lockdowns. Ten shows there spread over a couple of months. Moa said Su did a great job of imitating her younger voice. Showing Su can do anything and showing that even then their voices were starting to change. All grown up Su turns 26 on Dec 20th. Hard to believe after watching their first video. Time does go fast when you're having fun.

My first ever contact with BM - I was immediately struck by it and then tried to look for other versions of it - I assumed it was a gimmick and there'd be nothing else. A few days later I ran into the Megitsune video and then saw a video of them live. It's only been about a year now and I'm sure I'll find someone else to listen to......eventually. This is their first MV/Song they released. Some fun facts: Yui/Moa taught the guys in the bones suits (Baby Bones) the choreo. Just a side note. Anytime you see the guys in the suits. They are just paid dancers. They don't play any of the music/instruments. Even on the live shows. They couldn't always afford to hire the Kami Band.

Great reaction - as has been said, this was their very first song - recorded late October 2010 when Su-metal was 12, Yuimetal and Moametal were both 11. They made their stage debut with this song at the first Sakura Gakuin show in November 2010 (SG was the main Idol group, BABYMETAL was just one of several sub-units of the bigger group). This video was recorded nearly a year later around August 2011 on a shoestring budget, so the effects were not expensive ... they made their costumes up with some of their own and some borrowed clothes, the skeleton suits are black one piece suits with white tape stuck on (if you look closely you can see it peeling off). In the commentary video the girls made a couple of years later they were very proud of themselves - they taught the Babybones (the guys in skeleton suits) the choreo so they could dance along in the video - this was long before BABYMETAL could afford a band to support them. The floating heads thing - again in the commentary video they said about pushing their heads all the way through the green screen to get that shot. Doki doki is onomatopoeic for a fast or excited heartbeat. The song is about a girl waking up late and rushing to get ready for an exciting day at school with all her friends. It covers all the traditional death metal themes ... getting her hair straight, what lip gloss to wear - you know the sort of thing.😈🤘
