After a busy november with photo fair together with Morten Hilmer and fotobonden. It was so nice to finally go out to do some bird photography again. In this video I also explain how I photograph birds and give you a little bit of tips in the field. How I plan and use my experience to get close to the birds. I finally got my hands on the new nikon Z 600mm f/4 TC.

I love photographing wrens, Trond. One day one landed on top of my pop-up blind. I was listening to it scratching around up there when it hopped down into the window I was shooting through. After that its hopped up on my 500mm f/4 lens. Finally it finished up by going inside the sunshade before it flew away. That was a great experience that I'll never forget.

Great shots! especially those action shots. How do you trigger the shutter for those wide angle shots? Blue tooth? And do you "wake up" the camera after it goes "sleep" -- referring to those wide angle shots. Thanks!

It's built in the Z9 ..it will work like a trail camera and will start shooting according to some rules that you setup the camera to follow ,such as direction of target, size of target ,how long to shoot and how long to stop before shooting again ..all in the Z9.

Interesting how You mention all this location knowledge, bird behavior knowledge and then show Yourself setting up with the wide angle next to a speaker at 9:34. You talked about Your approach but never mentioned You were using playback, and You can clearly see the bird reacting to the callback (most obvious sign is the wing flaps) rather than feeding in the video. Your videos are great, but telling people about how You got the shot without mentioning the biggest factor to getting those is a bit questionable

I also agree, I think transparency is only fair, especially if the video is educational/fieldcraft oriented, I am sure Trond will respond with his reasoning. Maybe he was listening to some heavy rock? 😆

Thanks for your feedback. I actually recorded at the end ,where I talked about using som sound to attract it to the area ,and then stop. I am not sure why I forgot to use this clip . Because I talk about it in my videos photographing the gold crest. Same thing. I know that in some countries it is illegal to use sound. Therefor I wanted to talk about it. But I can say what I was recording here. I only use a litle sound to attract it to the area. And when it repsond of curiosity I stop. There are also 3 other wrens in the area that call on each other there. And in the winter it does not hurt the nesting site. But we all should not over use it. That is for sure. Only to get the attention and then stop. Hopefully this was clearifying. Thanks for your compliment and good comment.
