I absolutely LOVE a military parade and there are none better than the Brits when it comes to it. They may be proud of their military.❤️❤️❤️

Just watching this again, super video! Also I saw more of the Irish Guards parading down the Mall in this footage than I did with the television coverage when it was televised the following week and the Irish Guards were trooping their colours! Thank you for this 😊

Was the grenadier guards director of music telling them to quiet down for the horse?

Yes, the Bass drummer gave louder single bass drum beats but as it was in a section of the march where it’s fitting the band didn’t come down, so he gave a single double tap making it more obvious hence the Director of Music pointing this out further to the back of the band.

@@militaryevents107 Yeah, it's interesting. I guess them being used to having the bass drum be loud on most quiet parts of marches that they probably didn't think it was a signal.

There are three agreed reasons … 1. It was the most expensive material at the time so conveyed the wealth of the nation. 2nd, it was the cheapest as so many had to wear it, and 3rd, it disguised the red of blood in battle as not to scare other soldiers

They dictate the speed of the pace and need to be loud so the whole parade can hear and keep time with each other.

I felt the same way until I was informed that it wad for the benefit of marching guards behind the band. OK, but why aren't the drummer in the last row of the band (closer to the guards)??

Because a parade is led from the front. The bass has to be near the band master.
