tarted the day with the intentions of taking inline spinners and turning the treble hooks into a single hooks, and fishing for trout. It Did work and but the big surprise came when i switched to a trout magnet and started landing big yellow perch. 11 inches is a TARP or Tennesse trophy size perch.

Hey dude love your vids!! Keep it up bro.. Just a little tip, keep a set of hemostats on a lanyard you can hook to your jacket... You won't even have to touch the trout after you catch em! Just grab the hook with your hemos turn it and let em drop back in the water.. It's faster and easier on the fish as well.. Yellow and black colored rooster tails with gold blades have caught me thousands of trout over the yrs.. And trout love helgermites but we call an grampeses up here in upper East tn.. Come check out the holsten river up here some day! Best trout fishing in on the east coast..

I live about 30 minutes away from the Hiwassee. I catch a lot of crappie down in the Charleston end of it but suck at trout on the upper end. I was the first one there below the Dangerous water sign the other morning and ended up fishing both sides of the turbines and didn't catch a thing. Threw powerbait dough, red worms, spinners, spoons, and small crawfish crankbaits. The water is a lot higher right now than in your video...that wall below you was about a foot under water. I caught 1 trout at the boat ramp down from the powerhouse and a couple smallmouth. That was it for me. Tellico and Citico have been much easier to catch fish on for me.

You went there for the great trout fishing, and threw back the best perch fillets I've seen for quite some time! Pity you neither cook nor eat at least *some* of your catch, but I understand. We each have our likes and dislikes, and yet we should never forget-- we are *all* God's children.

Man that was a heck of a spot! You slayed them. I used to use all high dollar rods. Mostly Loomis, Falcon, and St Croix. They all break! Maybe I’m tough on rods but I have switched to all Ugly Stik Elites and love them! I’ve shut the car door on them several times and no broken tips. The gx2s are heavy but the Elites are perfect for what you do! IMO

Those are nice yellows! Up here in CT, late fall and early spring are usually the best times to catch bigger yellows. Commonly caught through the ice too. Yellows love small minnow and large insect-profile soft plastics and crankbaits. They love feasting on juvenile bluegill during the fall. Drop offs with structure close to shore are common areas for them to hang out. Simply flipping a 2" panfish assassin on a 1/16 ounce jighead is perfect.

Another amazing video, and some awesome catches... I need to get my vehicle running again so I can get out there and try to catch some fish too... Too bad about your rod. As far as the regulations up there, if I'm not mistaken, up at the powerhouse you are above the restricted section, so treble hooks should be okay. I believe the restrictions end at the big bend recreation area. Anyway, keep doing what you love, God bless, and tight lines.

In CT. we have "trophy trout" areas on a few rivers. There are like three pages of rules and regulations. I make sure I don't fish those areas. Too many rules. I go to the slower stretches of the river and catch smallmouth and northern pike instead.

Awesome day of catching perch. You will catch more trout on trout magnets if you use 2 lb main line and tie a 2 lb fluorocarbon leader the last 6 inches. Twitching in current you can put one or two small split shots above the leader or fish it under a float.

I have one of those Lew’s Xfinity rod combos for a year now. Mine is still going strong. I love the action on it. They sell the rod separately in Walmart now. Perch bite in overcast like crazy. I used to fish in this reservoir a good bit that about 30 miles from my home out in the woods. Very deep lake called slope creek. there are not many places to access the water easily. The dam is the easiest place and the boat ramp is also at the damn. No gas motors allowed. We got out there and had the john boat on top of the car on boat racks. and before we got the boat in it started getting dark far off in the sky. We didn't have cell phones then to check the weather. So we settled for hitting the bank right there at the dam because it's a higher elevation area and you don't want to get out on the that lake to far away with out a gas motor. we had oars. We were not catching anything and as soon as the barometer pressure dropped and sky turned dark over our heads we just started slaying perch. Every cast, didn't matter what the bate was and close to shore. Of course a lot were small but we caught 5 or 6 really nice ones that were 10 inch or longer. the storm got bad and we had to evacuate but it was fun. The fish just seem to head for the bank like it's a magnet when it's overcast. they know the bugs are going to wash into the water.

The big trout there are the Brown Trout...one of my old roommate's caught a 4lb. Brown out of the lake where we were camping. I caught my limit on 12-14 inch Rainbows using catfish stink bait. Another guy fishing at the lake told us if we used it we would catch our limit...and damned if he wasn't right!

Bass in the north and in California get huge because they eat trout and in Texas we don’t have trout except in the panhandle but the bass in Texas eat crappie and they get enormous from eating crappie. Bass probably have to get to around 3 pounds before they can even fit most crappie in their mouths but once they do get big enough to start eating crappie they go from about 3 pounds to 8+ in just a few years.
