I love how they address the obvious ridiculousness of his character through the movie with satire! It is brilliant the way it was done! Ben Stiller is low-key a great Director! The way he did Tropic Thunder and then transitioned into The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is something beautiful to witness!... and not even counting Escape at Dannemora and Severance! Sooner or later i do think that fortunately Ben Stiller does have the chops to become recognized as one of the greatest Actor-turned-Director ever! His level of talent is not a joke by any means!

Fun Story about Tom Cruise in this movie: When this came out me and my friend went to see it and in the middle I said that "holy crap I think that's Tom Cruise!" and he said "No way!" And during the enc credits I reiterated that "dude, I think this is Tom Cruise!" and he remained reluctant. We went to get food afterwards and he bet me a party sized plate of nachos for who actually played that character. No need to say that I won and got my nachos. Additionally, when this movie was cast, they pitched this role to Tom Cruise as a joke thinking he would never accept but he did and it was his demand that he'd have that dance number at the end and it was choreographed by him as well.

Robert Downey Jr. actually got Oscar-nominated for this (Best Supporting Actor). Had the unfortunate luck of running against Heath Ledger for THE DARK KNIGHT (who won that year). It is pretty ironic that Downey Jr. is a possible contender this year once again for OPPENHEIMER, considering that he lost to a Nolan movie performance the last time he was nominated (as a matter of fact, as of this writing, Ledger is the only performance from a Nolan movie to be nominated, let alone win (this will certainly change thanks to OPPENHEIMER)).

And I don't mean the usual peanut gallery. I'm sure Spike Lee or someone similar made some remarks... So Spike and... Who? Who else? Who "went after" Tropic Thunder and was serious about being offended by it? In media or otherwise? Your reaction when Robert Downey Jr. said he’s “just like a little boy playing with his di$k when he’s nervous” had me dying laughing. I don’t know why but it was so funny to me. Love your channel. Peace and love from Mass!!!

I always wonder if the "I'm a rooster illusion." line in Tropic Thunder is a reference to Alice In Chains' song 'Rooster', which is a song about Jerry Cantrell's dad* in the Vietnam War.... 🤔 I'm sure you've heard the song 'Rooster' a hundred times, even if maybe you've never paid attention to the words. . But here: "Ain't found a way to kill me yet Eyes burn with stinging sweat Seems every path leads me to nowhere Wife and kids, household pet Army green was no safe bet The bullets scream to me from somewhere Here they come to snuff the rooster Yeah, here come the rooster You know he ain't gonna die No, no, no, you know he ain't gonna die" "Walkin' tall machine gun man They spit on me in my homeland Gloria sent me pictures of my boy Got my pills 'gainst mosquito death My buddy's breathin' his dyin' breath Oh god, please won't you help me make it through?" . Like it almost feels like Ben Stiller's character had it breakthrough realizing that he's playing this soldier part, but he's full of shit. Like he's just playing soldier like an idiot, realizing that actual soldiers actually went through this stuff. He's just a Rooster illusion. If it's not that, I have NO idea what it means. 🤷‍♂ Seriously, what else could "I'm a rooster illusion" POSSIBLY mean? . *Jerry Cantrell Sr., whose childhood nickname was "Rooster"

McConaughey is quietly my favorite one in this movie, but he certainly gets overshadowed by several of the other outrageous and incredible performances throughout.
