Tropical Depression Aghon is currently crossing Quezon province in Luzon, and is expected to emerge back over the Pacific ocean soon. The system has been showing signs of intensification, and could be declared a tropical storm at any time. Current movement is northwestwards, but a turn towards the northeast is expected soon and the storm will significantly intensify if it leaves the coast. Although, the track has been trending westwards and the depression will struggle if it veers closer to central Luzon before moving offshore. Rainfall is the main threat from this cyclone, with storm totals of up to 12 inches (300mm) possible.
In the Bay of Bengal, a huge tropical cyclone is swirling off the coast of Bangladesh, and is expected to make landfall near the India/Bangladesh border late on Sunday. Rapid intensification is still expected at any time, and the storm is likely to reach hurricane status before arriving onshore. Due to its large size, strong winds will be felt all across the Bengal region and beyond, with high rainfall totals of up to 20 inches (500mm) in the landfall area and potentially inland over Bangladesh.
