I have this model in brown but I went with the non tropical version. Because I didn't mind it vs the sought after tropical. I could have gotten the tropical version but the optional braclette i wanted was only available on non tropical. I love the detail . Smaller dial than what I'm used to but it doesn't wear as small as the actual number. It looks and feels clean. Can be dressed up or down . 100% happy with it

@carlosraygoza9153 personally I haven't compared side by side but based Ina couple of reviews you can find on youtube , the lume seems better on non tropical version. To my understanding mostly because of less patina on the hands there. Thats not to say the lume isn't bad on the tropical version

Nivada nailed it. It is an iconic, beautiful and well made watch. I would go with the tropical brown and swap the punched leather strap for a solid tan stitched one. Great review.

I have the original re-issue version of this with the Black & White dial/hands (no 3/6/9). Lume is fantastic, FYI. I just love this watch. Mine is original smaller (non-mushroom) crown but I'm OK with this. The watch is simply amazing and I would not trade it. Thanks for the great review.

@@mohnnadmercedes8246 again, I have the black dial and white hands. I'm guessing on the "aged" versions, the lume is not as bright as that usually is the trade off.

Great looking watch. Personally, I would prefer a larger case size but it would be interesting to see how it would look on either a suitable NATO strap or rubber strap. Certainly, I would not want a steel bracelet. Nice informative video.

@@TheWatchScientists its confirmed by Nivada they are making a 35.5mm antarctic watch in manual wind form - due out end of the year .

Mine arrived non-functioning. Wound it and put on timegrapher to find it was dead. Waited three months for this one. So quite disappointed. The AD refunded the price of the watch, but not the shipping to and from ($70), so I have no further interest in this brand, especially since my message to Nivada has gone unanswered for two weeks now. Not very good customer service, especially for a revival brand.

I know the fake aging will affect lume performance, but in general is it easy to read in dark 3:00am? I have alpinist 38mm easy to read but difficult to know time because it has no orientation

Any colored lume is less bright than non-colored lume. The orientation is no issue due to the unique lume markers

I just posted my comment on this video about receiving a non-working watch. I sent a message to Nivada two weeks ago and haven't heard a peep, so I doubt that long term help is not in their game plan. The AD refunded the price of the watch, except for shipping to and from, so not a great overall experience.

I bought one of these, It says on the site ships in 3 to 5 business working days, just shy of a month later is shipped due to part issues fair enough, I pay the £133 to get it in to the uk due to brexit then 4.5 days later the seconds hand falls off ?. I message and explain the situation and was told we will send return details in guess what 3 to 5 business working days, I message a 10 business working days later about when I’m going to get this return info no reply. I gave up and just took it to my local watch repair guy in Aberdeen Scotland fed up waiting. poor show and no it’s not hard as nails this wouldn’t last if I closed my car door and had a aviator seadiver in my scope to buy but no chance not now.

that’s very disappointing to hear! You won’t get the best quality control with micro brands and this sounds like a very unlucky unique case to me otherwise more such cases would have flagged up. Hope you’ll get yours fixed soon and be able to enjoy your piece.

@@TheWatchScientists but at 5:48 you said it was absolutely amazing to have that in a watch under $1K. i was questioning that idea cause you can find hacking movements in watches for under $200 sometimes even $100
