TIP for Phil, put an eye bolt in the edge of your blocks and use the window awning stick to reach them under the rig plus you can store them vertically in a peg board bay. you could also tack a piece of paracord to them like a handle.

I was just about to tell him the same thing! The guy we bought our RV from had handles on the blocks and gave us a stick with a hook to grab it so we don't have to bend too far down. :-)

I use sections of an old ratchet strap, tack nailed into my chalk blocks, still need add them to my elevation blocks 2x12x14's. An additional step I took to mine was to liquid Nail w/a couple of nails to hold as glue dried a 3/8 thick piece of treated ply to each one to eliminate cracking/splitting. (I have 12 of these) TIP... let Hm Depot/Lowes do all of the cutting. OH!! Almost forgot, early in or travels I picked up a 3' chrome "truckers tool" at a truck stop. It has been a life saver for grabbing, pushing, pulling, w/o bending & stooping

When backing in small increments like onto your wood blocks it helps to use your brake. Increase your RPMs with your right foot while holding the brake firmly with your left foot. Gradually decrease brake pressure and let it inch up onto your blocks a little at a time. Working the brake like this is much easier to control for small movements. And... Way to go Army!

Tip: cut one edge of block at an angle to make getting on to boards easier. Also, driving forward onto blocks is easier, more power. Have parked a 35 foot foot class A with no leveling Jack's for over 20 years. 👍

Something you might try is a extend a stay rv propane kit. This lets you run off a external propane bottle say a 30# or 40# when you are staying someplace for a while. You can save the onboard propane for when you realey need it. You can take the propane bottle in the toad and you don't need to move the RV.
@eddiedoherty2349
@eddiedoherty2349 Жыл бұрын
Just replying as your comment is very helpful. I installed it recently because of recent and upcoming cold weather camping. Furnaces use lots of propane. It’s much easier to get swap a bottle than fill up the rig. I have a bottle for the grill. Another plus is in summer, if that bottle is empty I can tie into the rig. It was an easy install.

When working with wood blocks, attach an eye hook to the wood block. Attach about 2 to 3 feet of small chain to the eye hook, When placing the wood block under the wheel or leveling leg, allow the chain to face outward. This way, after a soggy wet rain, you don't have to get wet or muddy when pulling the blocks out. I also screw two blocks together for more height.

We use no less than 4 different electric heaters. Little bitty one very low amp in the bay. One in the garage and swap the fireplace heater with the Eden Pure. Remember your washer and dryer are on a separate system than the rest of your coach so you can use that plug to run a heater at night. If you need to put a heavy duty extension plug in the place of the dryer or washer during the winter months.

Phil and Stacy consider a forced air furnace that runs on diesel. You'll never go back, either the forced air version or the water heater. I like the forced air it's easy to install. Best upgrade for winter.

BTW, we've been using CLEAR2O for 15 months (~9 months full time), 14K miles; no problems. It sort of stands to reason that high altitudes (increased ambient pressure) may affect longevity of the CLEAR2) as well as low temperatures (30's & 40's) causing the plastic casings to become more brittle. Newbee RVers HINT: use your awning hooks to place and retrieve any wooden blocks placed under jacks and hard-to-reach inside tires. This is standard practice for us and the awning hooks saves our backs and knees. Best regards!! GO NAVY!

Just an FYI. Cattle dips were used in Florida where we live. They used a solution with arsenic in it. These were eventually abandoned as we learned about the negative side effects of arsenic. Many pits leached into the surrounding soil and water table, requiring cleanup at some point.

We live on Canyon Lake and camp at Potters Creek quite often and enjoy it especially the price $15 a night for us retired folks. We use Clear 20 and the only problem we had was when I ran over it and it blew out like a gun shot. We run it at 45 psi with no problems. My thought is that if where y’all last camp ground had lower pressure than what you run at and you turned up the regulator trying to increase pressure then at the next stop they had high pressure. That might cause the cylinder to pop?

Right there with you Phil on the Clear2o dirt guard. Mine didn't split on the lid but a vertical split on the main canister at 3am. I contacted Clear2o customer support and they didn't provide any reasonable accommodation. I had a total of about 4 months use in a 11 month period and use a regulator set at 50 psi. My view is that they are using inferior product that isn't designed for the job at least for the dirt guard. I use their inline filter but not going to buy another dirt guard. Thank you for sharing your experience. Hope you and Stacy have a blessed Christmas. God bless you and your family. Chuck n Patti

I made up some wood blocks from a long 2x10, cut into square pieces. I screwed some together 3 blocks thick, some 2 blocks thick, and left some as singles. On the edge of each one I stapled an 8" piece of rope for a handle so I can pull them out from under my rig with my awning hook, without having to crawl around on my bad knees.

Phil I have blown up a water filter also but not a Clear 2o. It was caused by the air bubble at the top of the propane tank hot water tank going away. I had to drain the hot water tank and refill. This puts an expansion bubble of air at the top of the tank. Without this bubble. the hot water tank will pressurize the water system and put over pressure up to the back flow device on the water supply. Hope this helps. Go Navy

With the dirt guard, we had the exact same thing happen, and like your conditions, it was a streak of cool nights and warm afternoons where we were. The crack formed in exactly the same place too, in the cap where yours broke. I think the big swings in temperature weakens the plastic a bit. Ever since then I put it at the other end of our water line in our wet bay, so it is behind a door which I think helps insulate it a bit more. We have had no problems since then in many types of temperature fluctuations now that it is a bit protected.

Regarding the water filter, I recommend the blue Camco filter. I've run over 100psi through those and never had an issue. I attached it directly to the faucet with no pressure regulator. I replace it once a year for $15. I leave my 60PSI regulator attached to the RV, instead of the faucet, because it's quicker for setup and breakdown. I use a 250psi rated drinking hose.

We had pin holes in our clear2O. Had to toss it. Love that lavender farm. There is also one in Florida that is a harvest host.

We did have a problem with the Clear 2O dirt guard. We were at Wheeler Lake in Decatur, AL. The dirt guard stripped right off the water pressure gauge. My husband threw it away!

Regarding your issues with the Clear2O dirt guard .... We've had the same issue, TWICE! We use a pressure regulator ahead of the Clear2O filters set at 40psi, yet we've had that dirt guard case crack two times now. Both times Clear2O was quick to send replacements. But clearly something is wrong with their design. We love the idea of the dirt guard pre-filter ahead of the cartridge filter, but it's quite a mess with that case cracks!

I had the same problem with the Clear2O water filter. Mine blew up as soon as I turned the water on, the pressure was only 50 psi.

Have used Clear H20 filters for a while with no problems, then bought some at Hershey this year and there was a pinhole in the small hose attachment making it unusable then the lid cracked as yours did. We were away when this happened so came back to a very wet area. We had purchased some extra dirt filters now a little afraid to use them I thought about calling the company but have not done this yet.

We are on our third Clear2O dirt guard. All three have split around the same location as yours. I thought it might be because of the cold temperatures we were experiencing when each one split. We are down in Florida now, but I haven’t bothered replacing it. Like you, I think I’m done with them.

We like Potters Creek campground. Cranes Mill is also nice. If you go up toward Marble Falls check out Inks Lake State Park. We stayed there last month and did some kayaking and got some great pictures. My Clear2O hasn't split but I also keep my pressure regulator at 50 psi.
