Thanks for watching! Yes, the cleaning of the jet, burner, and flue are all listed as occasional required maintenance in my manual. I will be doing it now every few years.

That it is. Reading the manual beats the heck out of posting "Help! My fridge is broken" on the internet...

We had a similar gas/electric refrigerator problem 2 years ago. Turned-out to be a dirt-dobbers nest in flue exhaust! We've since installed screens inside on plastic inlet and outlet covers.

Thanks for watching! Yes, that's a common problem that we have read about. Sounds like you did a great solution with the screens!

Thanks for the video. I removed the jet and sprayed it out with carb cleaner. It must have been clogged. It was visibly more clear. Reinstalled and the flame sounds like you can grill a steak on it! Letting it run on propane overnight and will check temperature. I’m confident that this was the issue

Just a suggestion, you were using compressed air which is good but a good ol' can of brake clean can be handy to have when you're on the road. It can help with multiple problems.

Thanks for watching! I do carry a can of brake cleaner when on the road and agree it can be very useful. In this case, I followed the manual which distinctly said compressed air.

Thanks for watching! It's still s few years aways but we want a top loading fridge and freezer. It would probably require significant cabinet work so it is not something we can do on our own. The major downside is that marine fridges cannot use propane and are almost always 12V. I hate the 12V fridges so we'll have to see...

The baffle in a water heater is supposed to push hot gases away from center for even heat distribution. So I was told. I don't know what it does in fridge. I think the baffle also slows down the thermodynamic reaction of heated gas to naturally travel upwards at a higher rate if speed.

I shared you video in a facebook thread for a different group of RVs. They (and I) have had issues with Dometic fridges keeping their cool. Recieved a reply mentioning something to the effect the Canadian propane is cleaner than American propane. Any thoughts on that being a factor?
@LuvSubbin
@LuvSubbin 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and sharing! I am not aware of any impurities in American propane. A quick search indicated that both countries adhere to ASTM Standard 1835 which would seem to make them similar. Nevertheless, that's good "food for thought".

the new electric compressor fridges are way better
@LuvSubbin
@LuvSubbin 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching but I will respectfully disagree. An absorption fridge has no moving parts and takes almost no electricity to run. The power hungry compressor fridges is why Airstreamers are adding lithium battery banks, tons of solar, and dc-dc chargers. I can get by on 1 crappy lead acid battery and 140 watts of solar. Plus, my fridge is 22 years old and still works like a champ (now that I have fixed the propane issue). I am betting that 0.00001% of the compressor fridges being sold today will still be around in 2046...
