Troubleshooting a Vintage Guitar Amplifier Part 2. SHOCKING Ending.

Back to troubleshooting this guitar amp. I've had this old tube amp for years, and it always had a problem. It worked fine at low volume, but I couldn't turn it up very far on either channel, before it got to the point where it would break up uncontrollably on louder notes. In the last video, I pretty much rewired the whole amp. Partly to make room to take measurements, and partly to work through the schematic, checking that it was all correctly wired. Also, the lead dress was appalling, and may even be the cause of the problem. I also replaced the filter capacitors, since they were 20 years old, plus however long they sat on the shelf. Now it's time to begin trying to diagnose the problem. I'll begin by simply measuring DC voltage at the filter caps, and by measuring plate, cathode and grid voltages at each of the preamp tubes. I'll also plug in a guitar to record a demo of the problem

The original wiring in that Amp looks like it was done using a blindfold, phuckin 'ell. No good being being wired correctly if it's all a mess, you improved things no end by re-doing it. Question- did you come from US/Canada originally, and if so do you find any problems unique to working with 240v over here? You might want to stock up on lead-tin solder, as the ecomentalists are restricting the sale of it now. It never did me any harm...(cluck cluck, gibber gibber, etc.)

Just since the re-wire, it became stable to a higher volume but still breaks up at a certain point. I've since taken a good look at the grounds. There were a few power supply grounds that were connected to the middle of the chassis. So now I have 3 grounds. I haven't tested the amp, yet, but I strongly suspect lead dress and/or misplaced ground points. I think, at higher volumes, signal is finding its way back into an earlier stage through the chassis. It could still be a lead dress thing, but I think it was happening through the chassis. It's been on hold for a while...which is why I'm watching my own video: 'cus I've done work since, and have the footage ready to edit, but I need to know where this video leaves off. As for the solder: You gotta get the crap with silver in it! An unstable amp AND werewolves, is one problem too many.

BUON ANNO.... mi chiamo Gerd, sono un sensitivo appassionato del PARANORMALE . Osservo molti canali e Iorio video e lascio spesso una mia opinione. In questo video sono rimasto perplesso di quel che ho visto ma non ho avvertito nessuna Emozione strana......Assolutamente nulla. Lunica cosa che .i don detto è che se è falso è stato fatto molto bene. Ho riguardato le scene pezzo x pezzo più volte fermandosi e giuro che x uno che nn se intende ci crede.... Bisognerebbe esaminare il video a computer x vedere se ci sono fili, meccanismi di apertura, meccanismi di espulsione e molto probabilmente delle persone dentro i mobili svuotati appositamente x fare il video. Se uno conosce i vecchi cinematografici come li conosco io che volevo fare il regista ma cmq ho Ancora la passione. Poi ce da dire che il tipo del video ha un bel coraggio a mettersi li tranquillo a sfidare un entità reale, io mi cagherei sotto solo al primo movimento. Poi con le luci spente e una pila si mette a filmare........Iocscapoerei a gambe levate.....Voi..???? Ditemi la verità.. Un ultima cosa, nn mi ricordo in che video ma a un certo punto lui filma in quello che si vedono le tue telecamere che riprendono .....lui alza la telecamera e sopra i mobili in alto si notano 5/6 casse audio rivolte verso l alto e sotto c'è una grossa calamita, quindi ci sono anche effetti magnetici......FATTO MOLTO BENE.....COMPLIMENTI E ANCORA BUON 2020.......🤗
