If you are noticing that your left or right speakers are louder than the other, you are suffering from channels that are not balanced. In this video I will take you on a step by step journey that fixes my imbalance, and hopefully yours as well.

Thank you!!!! I thought I tried everything till I switched the RCA cords. I soldered some new ones on the RIGHT way and it was night and day I had no idea my sl1200mk2 could sound this good. I thought it was my pre amp at first so stopped using that pre amp altogether 🤣 Cheers, happy listening

I have found rhat my anti-skate was set too high and ended up setting it very low to 0.9 which helped balance rhe volume

I'm getting a hum from my turntable and also more sound from the left hand side I've grounded my turntable to my amp but it's still humming and still the same on the left channel so I've ordered a new stanton 505 needle needle and new rca phone cables with the ground wire built in and I will see if that helps

I just found that my splitter box (Schiit) that I use for my 2 turntables actually adds excessive gain to one of my turntables (my vintage Thorens), causing one of the channels to be lower than the other. When I turn the gain/volume down to about 70%, the problem goes away. The Audio Technica tolerates all settings on the box so I was thinking it was the Thorens that was to blame.

interesting that you shot the vid with a Grado cartridge. That is the one that I am having this problem with. My other 3 (Ortofon and Shure) carts are fine. This one (grado silver) plays louder on the left..

I've been having issue with Rega P8 with Ania cart. I send it back to dealer and they said it was fine, but i still hear the vocals more in the right channel and its beyond annoying.

I do have an issue with my left channel. I don't use a pre-amp because my amp got a phono in. Thing is if I connect the ground lead from tt to amp - left channel is almost dead. It comes sound but only if I turn the volume to the max. If I remove the ground lead I do get sound from both channel equaly but a heavy hum is present on channel left. The turntable is a restored Denon DP-47F and my reciever/ amp is a Yamaha S-301. The cart was replaced several times. I used several (new) Ortofon systems of the 2M family and nothing helped. This setup once played flawlessly but from a day to another this humming issue came and never went away. I also bought a grounding-plug and connected it to the grounding-circus of my turntable and reciever but that did not help either. Are there other sources that may cause hum because I opened the turntable now several times and the wires are all ok.

Damn. I just got a brand new turntable and am having a panning issue. It’s the Sony lx310bt. The issue is so minor that I am wondering if I should even do anything about it. The only reason I can tell is because I also have it hooked up to my DAW through an Apollo twin and I can view the meters. It’s like 2db stronger on the left- when I switch the cables on the preamp- 2db stronger on the right. Hmmm. Frustrating.

Are you running the turntable through an amp or pre amp then to the DAW? What model amp are you using?

@@Claytone-Records yea. I’m going from the turntable, into a cheap Behringer preamp, into my Apollo twin, into logic.

@@alanaspalace4161 Those preamps are pretty cheap. But Behringer ought to be okay, there’s not a lot to those preamps. I was running my old Technics turntable into an old eq unit that had a preamp built into it and it worked great. Then my drummer friend gave me an old Aiwa amp with the phono pre and sweet. All my stuff is old, but someday soon I am getting a new turntable with all the trimmings. I am sure you will figure out your panning issue. How about your cables?

@@Claytone-Records yeah it’s a really cheap pre but I don’t think it’s that. And honestly, the panning issue is so subtle that it’s probably not even worth fixing. But the reason I know it’s not the cables or preamp is because I can also send the audio to my computer via usb and when I do that, the panning issue is still there. I also measured some of the levels from other people using the same turntable on KZfaq and they all have it too.

My right speaker was louder then my left speaker so I did as you suggested and flipped the RCA cables in the pre amp and that seemed to fix the issue. Is that normal?
