Definitely not wasted time or effort....you have a new tank which is bigger, two new pressure switches (one for a spare),and you learned what makes that thing work. As far as that little filter goes, you could just put one on the kitchen faucet if you need assurance for your cooking and drinking water. Thanks for sharing your experience. Y'all have a blessed day.

The water pressure in my Home got very low once just a trickle from the faucet A friend of mine that was a plumber came over1st thing he did was unscrew the little screen on the faucet which released gravel that had come up through the lines.😶

You should put a spigot out at the well head. This will allow you to check the water pressure and flow at the source in the future.

Water in the well is probably dropping so there is more sediment going in the filter. But it's always a learning experience.

Whenever the water level is lower, there is more silt in the well. We have to clean out our filter going in and out of the "on demand" hot water heater twice as often in late summer when there is (usually) much less rain.

You are ssoooo good, Jason. I had to help out at my mom's house after we had lost my dad, and my oldest son just knew everything we needed to start with. (My oldest son was in construction at that time). I was so glad. My son just went through it step by step by step until we had it fixed. I was so proud of him. Jason, I'm so proud you stayed with the problem until you found the answers, and you have so much knowledge of it all now. This is a terrific video of answers. I love it. Thanks.

Well this didn't turn out to be the worst thing which would have been a dry well and like you said! You were required to deal with a issue on the Homestead and you did your best. We all know that you are this amazing person with a wonderful family. So with a few more confidence builders like this one and soon you will be back to the same confident guy that we all came to know and appreciate at start up of the Sow the Land homestead channel. Only thing different now is that the homestead is in a different and bit larger location in terms of space and from the number of views this video received in the first few hours. I'd say that the channel fans are like hip hip hooray 🙌 He's back 💡 Thanks for sharing Jason

Well…that’s a deep subject!😂 We are California refugees homesteading in Arkansas. Never been on well water so had to jump into the deep end after insufficient pressure and a foul sulfur smell. We knew there was water because we live on a river. After a lot of You Tube University, my husband found the problem with the capacitors. He knows what to do now if we have another problem. It’s wonderful to keep learning new things. Keeps you young! Blessings!

Good to see that the problem is solved and that the well did not go dry. Not being familiar with your water system, it's too bad you replaced the more expensive items first and then still had no resolution, but at least those two components you replaced should last a long time. Sometimes the simplest of the chain is the root cause, but often this happens. Having done my career in maintenance, I learned through trial and error the same way, not even giving the smallest item any thought, especially when you mentioned that you had cleaned that filter awhile ago. Hopefully we will start getting some rain and get beyond this drought we have here in TN. I live in southern middle TN and we also are under a extreme drought condition. One good thing is that now you also have your rain water tank in place which just needs some decent rain to fill it up. Have a Blessed day!

Retired electrician here. That pre-filter is the canary telling you that the water level in the well is/was low; guessing you figured that already. In a worse-case scenario, you'll run the well dry and cause the pump to overheat and burn out. To fix that, you'll drill a new, deeper, well. Don't drop a new pump down the same hole if at all possible because it will suffer the same fate. My thought to reduce the risk of running the well dry is to purchase enough water to fill the new rain tank and conserve as much as possible. Best to y'all!

The thing you learned is to start with the simplest things first! The hubs had issues with fuel flow in the tractor, he did so many things, draining the tank and checking fuel lines only to discover the tiny fuel filter underneath the tractor was clogged. He replaced it and it ran smoothly for a few weeks before the problem returned, he went to KZfaq University and found out how to reroute the lines and added a bigger filter on the side which corrected the problem for good! Lessons learned and knowledge gained is always a bonus!

I went through this on our farm house when it was still my aunts. We did tank switch all new plumbing to find out the well had collapsed and needed a well drilled. The old one was a cobble stone hand dug well from 1895. After they filled it in I dug it out about 4 feet and use it for a fire pit

I felt this! I was over here Going "check for fire ants shorting the pump" (happened here) Check for fried lizards (danged little geico man), Check the water line for a thirsthy tree root (yep! been there) . And there was that one time our pressure tank was "breathing"- it was expanding and contracting, it's a miracle it did't blow. Most of our problems were resolved by HAVING SEALED POWER BOXES INSTALLED. Get that done when you can. Every spring we put sevin dust around the power box to keep critters out, no need to have scary bugs camping it that nice cave you made for them. I really hope you don't have any issues when it gets cold.
