I would like to think the landscape has matured enough that toxic haters of the perspectives we get in pt 2 (not everyone critical of the game) won't send death threats, etc. but unfortunately, I'm not hopeful 😐. I mean, when you have ppl over identifying with fictional characters as though they're not only real rather than actors but their real life friends they need to defend or seek vengeance for... That ppl who didn't write the story arent just the avatar of their hate, they ARE viewed as the characters with no IRL separation) to such an extreme degree that they'll go and threaten the life of the actress, her husband and their newborn child's life (what happened with BAFTA winner Laura Bailey... Guessing you know this), ppl are showing the world they're sick and need help.

The best decision was having them as minor killed off characters. They're still in the show but its not for so long that they feel like main characters again.

When the ominous music played and he began reading Biblical scriptures she said "OH! HE'S DEFINITELY A BAD GUY" and everyone else said "Yeah!" And they aren't exactly the most media literate people because they thought: -Sarah was going to be the main character of TLOU. -Missed that Cordyceps is a fungus. -Joel might fight Jackson and his own brother for Ellie. -Joel was definitely going to rescue Ellie from David. -During the end that Ellie would wake up and make the choice to sacrifice herself and make a tearful goodbye to Joel. -Argued after the end that Joel did make the right choice since there are barely any zombies left outside of Boston and Kansa City. And as for the non TLOU stuff they also thought: -Ned Stark was the main character. -Theon Greyjoy was a Stark sibling. -Khaleesi was Daenerys's name and got confused when characters started calling her Daenerys or Dany. -Khal Drogo would land in Westeros and lead the invasion. -Arya or Robb were going to save Ned. -Ned survived (until the next episode.) -Jorah would end up with Khaleesi. -Robb was definitely going to capture Casterly Rock and ally with Daenerys to take Kings Landing then sit the Iron Throne as King and Queen. -Robb's wife was a spy. -Jaime was going to try to escape and either Brienne would kill him or Jaime would kill her. -Jaime was lying about saving Kings Landing. -Ros and Shae would have a major role in the endgame. -didn't understand why Littlefinger was interested in Sansa because they thought he liked strong smart women. -Sansa and Sam were minor characters that would die at any moment. -White Walkers and Wights were the same thing. And: -House of the Dragon was going to be about a war between Daemon and Rhaenyra. -Or Daemon and Viserys. -The central love story would be between Rhaenyra and Alicent. -Criston Cole was the good guy competing against evil Daemon for Rhaenyra's heart. -Criston Cole would definitely be executed for what he did in the wedding. And: -My sister was shocked that Mysterio was a villain in Spider-Man: Far From Home -And also the villain twist from Frozen.

I mean it literally a gimmick but who cares? Everyone loves them and wants to keep them involved.

Its a simple love story told in a complex way. Any human being can relate to. It just hits everyone in the heart.

Whats also very great about how they decided to handle that relationship is that they compartmentalized the story into a single episode, meaning that if people are really that uncomfortable with it, they can skip the episode entirely on future viewings and miss very little.

Marlene definitely rushed the process, but Joel also didn't challenge Marlene about giving Ellie a choice. His first instinct was to murder everyone and the doctor and only when he's confronted by Marlene in the parking lot does he bring up Ellie's choice (and it's quickly backfired once Marlene points out his hypocrisy as well). Like you said, Joel has given Ellie choices throughout the show, but by the final episode, he is so scared of losing Ellie that he doesn't even want to risk the chance that Ellie would maybe say yes and that's why he lies to her at the end. If Joel cared solely about Ellie's feelings, he would have told her the truth, even if it meant that Ellie would hate him for it because at least she's safe in Jackson. But because that isn't enough for Joel, he wants Ellie to also love him unconditionally as well as be safe. It's a selfish decision by Joel but he's only human and that's why I really love him as a character

@@moca-dev The way I see it - he did ask Marlene to be taken to her. Marlene refused to allow him to see Ellie. Nobody is killing my child without allowing me to meet them. Nobody can expect me just to leave that premises without meeting my child. No matter how greater the cause is. Period. At this moment as a parent Joel has no choice but to kill those people. If Marlene'd allowed him to meet Ellie & Ellie said yes to die then & only then he has a choice to kill or not kill those people and accept Ellie's decision. In that situation what would I would do as a parent myself? I don't know.. But blaming Joel for taking away the chance to save humanity away is wrong. His actions are a direct result of Marlene's decision no matter how anyone tries to present it differently. If anyone has to be blamed, it is Marlene's decision not to ask Ellie & giving her chance to express her consent to Joel. If Ellie does that in the show, then her character arc is stupid & showrunners would be just ignoring the fundamental basic flaw in their conclusion to tell some effup story. I don't know what they plan to do. I don't know how many parents played the game. But I am sure much more parents are watching the show & they will have similar feelings as I have. Showrunners better take that into consideration. Protecting the children from the predator' is a primal animal instinct. HBO will lose many viewers in next season if they try to preach something else. Yes Joel should not have lied to her at all. And that's a major problem for me. Any parent will tell their child that they were about to be murdered without even allowing to meet them. I am sure children can understand that.

I would’ve done the same thing if I was in Joel’s position. And I would’ve done the same thing if I was in Abby’s position. Both point of views are right when seeing it from how they see it. Joel was not about to lose ANOTHER daughter who just gave him something to live for, and Abby’s Dad was brutally murdered. Both are right and wrong and that’s what makes the story so beautiful

Yeah Ashley should've been more involved, she had less screen time than Troy but her character is way more important than James, David's right hand man. She literally played Ellie's mother and Ellie in the game who becomes the main protagonist in Part 2. I hope in season 2 they bring Ashley to do the interviews and podcast for the show.

It's the opposite of average. It really didn't go downhill at all. They did Henry and Sam absolute justice. 4, 5 and 6 were phenomenal episodes, 7 was below average (as was the DLC it was based on), but 8 and 9 were among some of the most intense television filmed in the last decade.

Episodes 3 and 7 were the story. The idea that they took time away is asinine. These are the characters we care about, and people are the important thing about this whole concept of the show, humanity. 7 was a bit slow, but it directly provided background motivation for Ellie. That experience directly informed her decision to not leave Joel in the present. It did the actual opposite of "moving away." It was a flat out character input. Joel and Ellie's relationship was not rushed. They were not best friends 4-5 days after they met, this is untrue as we see up till episode 6 even AFTER the 3 month time jump, Joel wanted to ditch her. On a TV show, things are not going to develop as minutely as a video game.

The way they were laughing together in the apartment in episode 4 and how much Joel was panicking in Episode 5 during the sniper scene proves it. Episode 3, while being the best episode in the season, was a mistake. To spend 80+ minutes on characters that were never mentioned again is asinine.

He did the opposite of panic. He was very concerned, but that's not how panicked people act, what with shooting down every single zombie with killshots. Would you have preferred him running away? The same things happened in the game. He had a job to do, he was beginning to care about Ellie, who is a kid who might save the world. I feel like this is a non-issue. The same bonding moments existed in the game, in the same time period. Bill and Frank were mentioned again by word a couple times afterwards. In what way was ep3 a mistake? It was their story, but it was also Joel's. In the span of a week, Joel lost everyone who was essentially his entire family. Tess, Bill, Frank, these were his closest people in his life. It informed his character and his subsequent actions. In no way shape or form was it "asinine."
