I’ve had my Troy Built 2410 for over a year now and I love it. I really like the electric start and it has plenty of power and can really throw snow. Before each use I spray silicone down the chute and impeller and it really helps to prevent clogging. I run Tru Fuel in it which has no ethanol in it and never had any problems with the carburetor getting gummed up and the jet’s clogged. It sat in my garage from March thru October and when we got our first snow of the year and it fired up on the first crank and the engine ran great.

I’ll have to give the tru fuel a try, I had to clean the carb due to some gumming up issues. I just posted that video.

Unless you regularly get more than 6 inches of snow at a time you deal with just a single stage snow thrower. If you get large amounts of snow then a two stage may be worth your investment. If you just have a small pathway and short driveway with less than 6 inches, a shovel may still be your best deal.

Troy-Bilt (MTD) makes some great snow blowers. The Powermore engines are now the envy of the industry. One thing that I cannot stress enough is to pre-treat EVERY drop of gasoline you use in the blower BEFORE putting it in the tank. This means to use a good fuel stabilizer (such as STABIL, or SeaFoam) added to your gas can before fueling your blower. (Read the mixing instructions/ratios for each product) At the end of the season, drain the tank, let the blower run until it stalls, then either do one of these two things: 1) Add a bit more over-stabilized gas to the tank and let it run for a few minutes until it stalls. Then drain the carb bowl. 2) Add non-Ethanol gasoline (Such as TrueFuel) to your tank, let it run for a few minutes, and you are good to go. :)

Great tip on the gas, will have to start adding some stabilizer.

I've had one since 2014. Regular maintenance and it'll last a long time. Mine still runs and looks new. If you wanna give it the closest thing to steroids, install an impeller kit! Mine would probably pump water! Lol impressive. Use fuel stabilizer!!!

I brought one brand new went to use it first time and the drive belt came off , belt didn't look damaged so I put it back on but by this time I had already shoveled and didn't need to use it, following winter ,went to use it wouldn't start, carb needed to be cleaned, this models carburetor glues up easy, use only high octane gas! Cleaned carb got hit with 2 ft of snow from Storm izzy, went to use it belt fell off, I used a electric snow joe and it worked great, I'll never buy gas powered again, my electric snow joe starts up every time ,does the job even in heavy snow and I have no problems.

Does this unit have the type of handles that will lock into place? I have an older Craftsman and I have to keep a closed grip around them both. I am looking to buy a new machine but definitely want one that has the lock-in-place type of grip(s). Thank you for the video, by the way!

My first gas snow blower. Pretty much clueless! When in use, are you pressing down both the auger in conjunction with the drive handle.
@efd
@efd 3 жыл бұрын
Yep, the left side is the auger and the right engages the drive.
@stevenschrater932
@stevenschrater932 3 жыл бұрын
yes, but then you can release the drive handle like i do with mine because mine will stay in place until i let go of the drive handle then re adjust when moving it around. hope that makes sense

I meant to add: The machine I currently have is about 20 years old. It is a Craftsman that gave me a lot of problems when it was brand new. Warranty fixed those problems. My dilemma is should I look into fixing this one up? Pull cord broke years ago. Replacement coils are not available and are in the "obsolete" category when I used the internet to replace it. I have changed the oil and the plug every season and last year it ran fine. In PA, we had an usually active Winter 2020. I do not want to be caught with a dead machine so I am looking to buy a Troy Bilt but keep this Craftsman as a backup. What are your thoughts on repair or replace? Thanks!
@efd
@efd 2 жыл бұрын
I'm a fan on repairing as everything breaks eventually. Until it leaves you in a spot or the parts start adding up to where you could buy a new one, I repair. It was painful to spend the money on this one when the last one I got at a garage sale for $15 and put $40 into it . But it lasted several years and was great until it wasn't. :)

Also, I have a brick driveway. It states that the skid plate has a factory set at 1/8 off the ground. Do I need to adjust this setting. I don’t want to ruin my driveway. However, I want to remove snow down to the pavement.

Can i turn off the snow blower by pushing the throttle to stop or do you recommend just pulling the key out?

A lot of snowblowers don't have a throttle control the speed is fixed . Some have an on-off switch , others like this one you have to use the key.
