Have you heard Cocteau Twins? Totally different to QoTSA but the guitarist is known for this reverb-y guitar work. I'll bet that Troy is influenced by them in some way. Have a listen to "From the Flagstones" by Cocteau Twins from 1986 and listen to the guitar.

@Chris Greene NOT EVEN CLOSE. I'm only slightly into shoegaze music beyond the Twins. My main staple is punk and post punk. I had no idea Troy was from Queens as I have barely listened to them. I was just here for the guitar, lol!

Such an underrated guitarist! Josh's parts and sound has always been the meat and potatoes of the band - where as Troy's has always been more the layering and sauce of the sound - totally complimentary to it all! Really the unsung hero of the band imo

You kept the vintage pickups and you kept the rhythm circuit. THANK YOU for keeping the two things that make the Jazzmaster such a great guitar instead of screwing with one or the other on like on almost every other model you guys are still selling. I may actually pick this up one day because it sounds and looks amazing.

Marc S years back before I got my CS Time Machine 55 P used I was gonna order a one off 51 P from the shop. I wanted it in the Oxblood with the mute system Fender designed for Bob Babbitt back in the 80s. (Essentially a scaled up version from the offset guitars) The shop refused to do either spec as Troy had Oxblood on his signature guitar and Sean Hurley had the mute on his signature P. So I decided I would just get a used vintage spec single coil until I could get the specs I wanted. It’s a truly rich, gorgeous color.

Got the Oxblood one, if i remember correctly that one has a rosewood fretboard and this copper one has a maple fretboard, as I prefer the darker tone I chose the Oxblood one. easy top 3 among my fav guitars

They changed it to a darker version that was easier to sing. You can tell even early on Maynard was stretched to the limit on it. That and they don’t have Paz on violin. The guitar parts are super easy.

I really miss this guitar, I sold it 2 yrs ago to buy a CS 58 jazzmaster which is lighter than the TVLJ..but harder to play with a 9.5 radius.

Other pickups, other tremolo, no contoured heel, toggle switch instead of the little normal one in the rhythm circuit and if it's like his sig before a 7.25" radius, the Am.Pro II have 9.5"

I have taken my JM JMascis on the fly and with my pedal board, with any fuzz ( Big Muff, Fuzz Factory or MXR Blue Box or Dist +) + Memory Boy with some modulation I get decent similar martian sounds, long sustain and gain. The key is the analog delay. Bands like Earth or Sunno)) use that massively. Easy cause its slow playing :)
