Is this a way to isolate your tent from unfriendly wildlife? I remember putting up the canvas tents and if you located it in the wrong place and it rained hard you would have a soggy experience. It had that used oil smell too.

Oh yeah. It's becoming popular to put these in the truck bed instead of the ground. You avoid the critters and have a better chance of a dry place to sleep. Put an air mattress in it and you have a nice dry wildlife free place to sleep. My biggest issue is making sure I don't fill the bed of the truck with stuff that makes it hard to put up the tent.
