It’s a pretty cool truck, but it has given me fits trying to keep it on the road. It’s finally at a point where I’m just doing regular maintenance though.

I want to throw mines In the nearest landfill sometimes..but I remind myself.. with all of the repairs, I'll have a brand new truck soon😁

@@yawotton that’s what people tell me. I almost have a new truck with all the repairs I’ve done. I do like the fact it’s not a common truck though. I never see a truck like mine on the road.

It’s a nice setup; dual exhaust, polished visor and bumper, set forward axle gives it the big hood look-sorta. I drove a lot of Internationals and Freightliners, Cascadias with weed burner exhaust. My last trucks were 10 speed manuals; driven auto shifts, prefer manuals- that’s just my preference, won’t say one is better than the other. Anybody else old enough to remember when 500hp was a big motor?

My next truck will be a 13 or 18 speed manual. I’m kinda sick of this automatic. I’m looking at some International LTs with a 500hp Cummins and 13 speed right now. I also have my eye on a mid-roof t680 with a 13 speed manual.

I just started watching your channel so this comment is coming in a little late on this video. You asked about the battery and key symbol….rocker style switches on your control panel. On my Mack tri-axle dump truck, the battery symbol switch turns on my strobe lights. I think it can be used for whatever your needs are though…like an aftermarket accessory or any 12v needs. This circuit is always hot(even if the truck ignition is off) you have to rock it on or off. .The key symbol rocker style switch is also for accessories accept the truck ignition key has to be turned to start or power ….and of course then you control the on and off rocker. When you shut the truck off this accessory will shut of while the battery symbol rocker switch will stay on until you rock it to the off position. I hope that make sense.

Hey Jason, appreciate the truck tour and all vids you take the time to produce. Im a 6 month Schneider bulk company driver. Perhaps some of your experiences over the years with different company's for a topic. I,m personally looking for a change over the next 6 months, but know all recruiters are less than truthful. And how you transitioned from a company driver to owner operator, if that was your path. I'm out of Baton Rouge and relate to a lot of what you speak about. I,m sometimes stupid also. Be safe

You’ve probably realized that most new drivers use the mega carriers like Schneider to get experience, then move on to greener pastures. If you can do one full year with them, that might be the best bet for you to open as many doors as possible for better paying jobs. I plan on doing a video on what to look for in trucking job postings on Indeed and Craigs List in the future. I’ll talk about what questions to ask the recruiter, and I want to read through some actual postings online and give my impression of them. You might be interested in that.

The Jakes do good if I get the rpm right. It likes to be between 1500 and 1800 rpm. Damn automatic transmission though is programmed to be at low rpm at all times, so I have to make it downshift. It gives me all the stopping power I need though.

I sold it. I'm back to company driver now. Funny enough though, after I made all the big and little repairs on my truck, it became a reliable tractor.

I had an 05 vision... 460p Acert... drove from texas to Massachusetts regularly.. lousey fuel economy. Not sure about new one. Never left me stranded though.

I have a 2016 Mack CXU 613 Pinnacle series, mp 8, 12 speed n drive, 2 26 gears ratio, mpg 9 when pulling light loads, also white, small world, thanks for all the info. Sure do you appreciate your time thank you.

@Pressing My Luck yes the run went well. I am looking at Frightliners, because so much room inside and weights around 19,000 lbs, so I can purchase a product pump, in the future can you please a video on pumps. Drive safe my friend.

I’m with you there. I’m looking at an International LT because they’re lighter and have way more room and features than my Mack. I don’t have a pump in my truck because our trailers have pumps. I’ll definitely do a video if I ever get a pump off.

Very slow with this new carrier leased on to. Want to get 1 year of experience with tanker and move on, hopefully to Transwood. The settlement sheets video were very good in explaining the pay, really like the minimum guarantee pay, to be ready. Look forward to your next video. Thanks again.

What Is Your Gear Ratio An MPG?

Mpg is 5-6 loaded-depending on weight and terrain, and 6-7 empty. As far as the ratio, it’s not listed on the door sticker with the axle weights and tire sizes. I’ll get the dealer to look it up when I bring it in for the clutch issue. The rpm are high at cruising speed, so the gear ratio must be fairly high. I’ll let you know when I find out.

My guess on gear ratio is 3.38 . and around 5 to 6 mpg ? nice looking truck !

You’re right about the mpg. It’s 5-6 when I’m loaded, and 6-7 empty. I’ll get the dealer to look up the gear ratio with the VIN next time I bring it in.

Can you comment on which brand new truck you’d consider buying if you had a choice for the kind of work you do?

@@SilverbugInc unfortunately with all the electronics, sensors, and aftertreatment crap on the new engines, there isn’t much difference between the brands other than the body of the truck. Paccar engines are supposed to be really reliable, lightweight, and fuel efficient. Cummins engines come in many different configurations of torque and horsepower. Peterbilts and Kenworths come with either of those engines, so if you’re buying brand new, I’d look into one of those. Also, if you want a Cummins, you can get one in an International, and all the Love’s truck stops with service shops are International certified to work on them for small repairs to get you back on the road. This could be a huge benefit, and International will warranty Love’s work.

I drove the fanciest truck Kenworth makes and i enjoy driving my Mack over the W900 2014 cummins 565. my 505 will outpull it.

@bordstif84 We have that in common. My screensaver on my iPad is a Kenworth K100 Aerodyne. My other favorite is the 1997/1998 International 9800 Eagle cabover with the pro sleeper and flat floor. I like the way the flat tops look, but I could never drive one OTR, so I gravitate towards the raised roof sleepers.

I drove a VNL860, and you’re right about them being comfortable. Mine never broke down either. The company I was at did regular maintenance, and I kept the wheels turning. I had no complaints with the truck, so I’m not one of those guys who make fun of them.

That w900 was a company truck. They ended up selling it and getting me a t680 with the Paccar engine and transmission for the fuel savings. I loved the w9, but honestly the 680 was nicer inside considering I’d spend four weeks at a time living in it. It had a bigger fridge, microwave, and TV mount. Little things go a long way. I sure miss that W900 now though!!! 💔

@@PressingMyLuck_Truck is it true that an automatic tranny doesn’t do well if you’re hauling tankers? I watched another video where it was mentioned that one particular driver had 8 transmissions replaced under warranty and finally was refunded another replacement by Volvo due to the nature of his work

@@SilverbugInc I’ve heard that story, and something seems suspicious about that. Most tanker companies have entire fleets of trucks with automatic transmissions in them, including the company I’m at now. So I would say that the automatic is fine for tanker for that reason alone. With that being said, my next truck will be a manual because of personal preference. My current automatic does fine, but I just prefer a 13 or 18 speed manual.

@@SilverbugInc hmm, I’ve never seen that. The place I delivered to today would have never been able to accommodate a truck that size though, and a lot of the other places I go to wouldn’t either, so I’d say definitely not.

Don't listen to them dumb arse drivers. The Mack MP8 is not 100% identical to the Volvo D13. They are similar, yes, but there are some Mack specific differences. You can hear it too, the MP8 is much louder than the D13 & it comes with a wider range of horsepower & torque ratings.

@@PressingMyLuck_Truck That too. They're just jealous because you were driving something unique that we don't see every day out here. Western Star drivers go through the same thing, "it's just a Freightliner". I guess they're all too asinine to realize that Kenworth and Peterbilt are actually the same thing, all Paccar parts. You'll never hear anyone say that though.

@@user-sk1eh3pg6j they’ve taken over, and it’s spreading rapidly. Two years ago, most drivers would pull up to the fuel pump, get fuel, and pull forward. Now, the standard is to pull up to the pump and go in the store if no truck is behind them. I regularly see every pump with a truck in it, but no one getting fuel. All the drivers are in the store. How does a long-standing rule change so quickly? Monkey see/monkey do, as they used to say when I was a kid. (I haven’t heard anyone use that saying in forever)

Mack’s are nowhere compared to Volvos LMAO. People that say that are crazy. Mack’s are always used in the oilfield because how strong the chassis is and because they can sure take a beating.

I despise the mack cx.. I'm driving for someone. All the loose storage is tedious. Bumping and crashing down the interstates....not impressed. I wont buy this for my ugly betty. I call him Teddy Roosevelt, he is a rough riding son of a bitch...lol Wow the repair bill seems high. Good luck driver.

That truck started to grow on me after I got all the big repairs done. I still didn't hesitate to sell it when I got an offer.
