Dude, I think you didn’t get it . What he’s complaining is that he needs to unload 24 pallets himself instead of driving. He is basically a driver/warehouse operative, Tesco Aldi, they do that. No, nobody wants it . He’s talking about pulling a pump truck around 4 dozen times , if you consider that it’s both loading and tipping.

Body always felt broken after a shift & not being all the well build in terms of arm strength at the time definitely didn't help.. Warehousing has a similar issue to HGV driving in that there's not many incentives to do it. Has similar issues to HGV work in that the majority of the time it's hard work and long, anti social hours for little reward. Only difference is at least as a wagon driver you are on your own most of the time and escape from condescending or rude managers who expect you to hit targets a robot would struggle with.

That's bad to see - We always have respect and a good relationship with our regular container drivers as we know they've been up since 4am to do felixstow or southampton to midlands run up to us for 8.30am. With 40 footers we always give them an approx unloading time - that can be over the 3hrs with heavy handball out, but we let them know when the heavy ones are, or the quick ones at 2hrs so they can get their heads down. Also always offer them use of facilities / free coffee machine etc if they need. We are small independent company though - I guess easy to see how the big corporates don't care. Good vids too, thanks Jay - been subscribed for some time. Cheers

Well done Jay for making people aware what a difficult Job HGV work can be at times. The real problem is too many vehicles on the road today, 37 million on our small island. I drove all different types of vehicles for 40 years, I take the bus now lol 😂 I will say this though. The trucks today are far more comfortable and reliable than some of the old ones. No power steering. No heater. No sleeper can or night heater. No air assisted drivers seat. No automatic gearbox box etc. The list goes on. It wasn't until the early 1970s when Volvo and DAF come over and that shook the British lorry market up and finished it eventually and I'm not surprised. I learnt to drive in a Bedford TK tipper, it was like a ice box sometimes in winter in a wind tunnel lol 😂😂👍🇬🇧

4 hours? Work for the agency so you get paid for the hours you sit while being offloaded. I spend the time watching KZfaq or reading my ebook while being paid 18 pounds an hour I love it. Wouldn't change it for any other job in the world.

After 25 years of being a full time trucker i hung my boots up.We get treated like crap buy businesses, other drivers and councils unlike other European countries who value truckers. There are parking spaces and shower facilities at each garage. The UK is crap for truckers.I would consider working just weekends only other then that i am pleased to be away from the bs!!!!!

I want a job where I end up waiting 4 hours for other people to do theirs and I'm on paid time 😂 You've done your part in getting up early and delivering the goods to site, how they choose to mess around after that doesn't affect your £££

It's the consequences of the shitty systems of "just in time delivery". Corporations kid us that its for our benefit, instead of the truth which is it means they don't hold stock . Its simply about them lining their rich share holders pockets, and means we get lower quality fresh foods that have been frozen or chilled to within eight hours of going rotten, but they get to keep their money in the bank longer. The consequences are the drivers get treated like shit and the slightest hiccup in the chain causes chaos. All the skill shortages we face across all industries are the result of greedy people who contribute nothing showing zero respect for working people as employees or consumers.

Aldi and lidl were built during the German recession after the 2nd World War. Built completely on efficiency, hence why they've been so successful. The likes of tesco would need there entire system rebuilding from the ground up to be anywhere near as efficient.

Pay these incredible men and women more, a lot more. I think of these poor devils every time I shop for food everytime I make a large meal for my family and friends I owe these people everything they are why my work never runs out. They are why I can sample the world from my little house in Texas and why I don't complain if prices are up. Thank you thank you thank you.
