Can't believe some of the streets you have to drive with that unit. I'm used to all the over size routes we have in Alberta. I've pulled a tandem jeep with a tri axle low bed and that was stressful enough. You make that big unit look easy. I know it's not.

The USS Constellation is the last sail-only warship designed and built by the United States Navy. It has a museum gallery and is good for kids. Yes, the USS Constellation is located in Baltimore, Maryland's Inner Harbor at Pier 1. It's the only remaining ship from the Civil War era and is now a National Historic Landmark. The ship was built in 1854 and decommissioned in 1955 after 100 years of service. It's now preserved as a museum ship with four decks to explore. The ship offers regular guided tours, including a cannon firing every day, and visitors can participate in demonstrations The USS Constellation was eventually decommissioned in 1955 after 100 years of service. Built in Boston and launched in 1797, USS CONSTITUTION is the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world today. During my many visits during that time, I only witnessed one incident , that was a fellow getting it on with his wife/ significant other ?? as we were leaving an NFL game. I never felt threatened during those 4 years. Also, enjoyed many visits to the inner harbour.

My compliments again, Doug, for another outstanding video with top editing. Your explanations at the truck stop while waiting for the NYSP escort, were very interesting. Question: upon entering that T/S, when you needed to raise the trailer, doesn't that activity pull the trailer back (the reverse of what happens when drivers drop the air on a van-trailer after docking, it pushes the trailer-box forward). The real question is: do you leave the tractor-brake off when raising the trailer, so the tractor moves backwards during the process? (the energy for raising the trailer has got to go somewhere). Also, when you suggested - just prior to entering the Rest Area/Weigh Station near Kanona/NY - to have all your paperwork ready for such inspections, you named among other things the Permits. Maybe you should also remind drivers to ensure that the Permits are signed and all auxiliary forms (usually to be downloaded from the State's website) are in fact present with each permit. (I can't stop re-iterating the "signing part" to all my drivers).
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 Ай бұрын
Yes you are correct about signing for the states and provinces which require signatures. NY used to require but not any more. I have the habit of only using the tractor parking brake and leaving the trailer released. That being said when working on uneven ground or on a slope all the brakes should be set. The truck alone may not be enough to hold 200,000 lbs from rolling on a slope

Boy we are sure lucky out here in the West (Nevada) where we have lots of freeways to handle these types of loads. A lot easier than what you have to do to get the load delivered to the customer back East. Thanks for taking us along for the trip.
@andrep8287
@andrep8287 Ай бұрын
@stuartatkins5425....technically we have lots of freeways (& toll-roads) too, but the infrastructure (read: bridges, overpasses) are in pitiful state and Doug's combo could well be the last nail in the coffin while crossing some of these structures (that was always my fear when operating delivery self-propelled mobile cranes). That said, the traffic -ensity is also far greater on the East Coast then in the West, that's why P\permit-routings are usually mandated off the beaten track.
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 Ай бұрын
Yes east coast is not the same game! That’s why I just laugh when westerners say they routinely move bigger pieces of equipment. The infrastructure is much different, the laws are very different and the population density is very different so you really can’t compare the two

All scientific stuff, which I totally enjoy, and looking at the read out. Not many truckers explain any of this. I follow a half dozen or so truckers, and only one person explains things, which is Sherralin (Lorry Diaries) on her site. She does many trips out of England and around Europe, usually France, Spain and Portugal, and she does some explanations as well. When you stopped for the inspection, I had to laugh to myself watching the officer on his back pushing himself along. Looked like an upside down turtle🤣

Always interesting to see how they route you. How did they get you up to buffalo this time? We are about 40 miles west of Lawrenceville

It's odd when you see your small town pop up on one of these videos. I live in the small town of lawrenceville where the NY cops picked you up. I seen you that day but didn't even think it was you, I would have stopped and said whats up. Maybe next time. Safe travels

Great video, now that you have had some time in the Pete with the auto transmission what is your opinion of that unit for heavy haul use. I do not know if I could get used to the automatic. To use to the 18 speed. Also, what engine is in the Pete? is it the Pacar or one of the other brands?

This truck has a Cummins 565 I must say this transmission has proved capable of handling the weight. It takes off and shifts very smoothly even at 200,000. That being said my personal preference is still an 18 Manual.

Now getting to the end of the video. If that was the Brits pulling up to call the bridge to cross, we'd be duty free first, then call the bridge🤣🤣🤣. Whilst your crossing the bridge, the river reminds me of the Rhine in Holland as its nearing the North Sea. Brilliant video Doug, keep them rolling

Doug, great video. Entertaining and informative. ??? I’d be interested in hearing a breakdown of the total $$ cost of escort/police charges for the haul. It must be very significant. Thank you.

Greetings from Germany. Great Job. One question: Is the third rear axle on your truck optional and removeable? Thanks.
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407
@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 Ай бұрын
Yes. The rear of this truck has been custom built to accept a removable axle.
