"All wheel drive"??? Alex, your truck does NOT have "AWD". That switch is probably the Power Divider switch. It locks output from the forward differential to the rear differential. Not even close to being "all wheel drive"; your front axle is NOT powered.

I know so many truck drivers that refer to that switch as either AWD, or my personal favorite: 4x4. And some of these drivers have been in the seat for well over 20 years. I personally call it the “diff switch” but it’s whatever.

4:48. Would love to see one day Alex opens his trailer to see his haul was just one single small item. Either a box or better yet 1 single empty plastic water bottle that required him to drive 700 miles. Oh and that water bottle took them 1 hour to load. I'm in NYC and a certain portion of 495 in Long Island has a hill and always volume traffic simply cuz ppl can't drive and step on gas more when going up hill or let off gas going downhill. Instead you see cars braking cuz ppl going too fast down or cars braking cuz cars in front slowing. Lastly humans are too curious, everytime something in the side of highway even if it's on opposite side they have to slow down to look, I mean you can still look going at 55 mph speed limit instead of going 25-30 mph. Driving is so frustrating when majority of drivers are not paying attention or too easily distracted. DMV needs to make it harder for ppl to get licenses and certain ppl need license renewal tests.

13:50 In Europe for loading truck like that you will get in REAL trouble as a Driver... Cargo can fall off the pallet, pallet itself can slide... Big mess even if you turn too hard... In Europe pallets that do not touch each other need to be strapped down to the floor and then the cargo needs to be strapped to the floor so it can not move... So usually pallets are packed as tight as possible so that you can use less straps... It is normal to use 2-4 straps per pallet if they are not packed tight... In USA it seems 1 strap for entire trailer is all it takes... Law aside, it's just dangerous not to strap cargo...

That truck does not have All Wheel Drive. I’m unaware of any manufacturer that offers All Wheel Drive for Conventional Tractor-Trailers. There are a few Logging/Off Road Variants that are 6X6, but on the road Semis are by majority 4x6. I believe what you’re referring to is a locking differential. Which is not even remotely similar to All Wheel Drive. It just makes all of the powered wheels turn at the same speed to reduce slipping and apply more power to the wheels with traction.

Alex. Question, why do automatic transmission trucks have wheel covers on the drive wheels? I love your videos and your enthusiasm.
@WestTexasCustomPC
@WestTexasCustomPC 10 ай бұрын
I can answer this. It has nothing to do with the transmission and everything to do with aerodynamics and fuel economy. The correlation is that most fleets use both automatic transmissions and aerodynamic wheel covers whereas manual trucks are usually favored by owner/ops and they could care less about a .005mpg increase as they’re just one truck.

If you have enough space, you can use break 1 more close cars 2 super close car 3 if you’re going down hill with a grade you set a speed, use the break 1 and push cruise control one down. That’s is a good way to break without using the air breaks.
