what happens when your paid by the mile, and over half your existence is spent on TIME not driving? what then is compensation?

Luckily I am on guarantee pay so it doesn't bother me to much. But with other companies they have layover pay and stop pay and detention pay. It is not much but it is something. It's tough though if you are not constantly moving.
