Something his Father taught him,.."you can disagree without being disagreeable" JT was well spoken and respectful while answering, This has been his approach since day one and it serves us well. Thank goodness we have Trudeau as our P.M. Throwing mud at people you don't agree with accomplishes nothing. We have a much better Govt. Leader than the one we voted out.

gacj2010 that softie became Prime Minister though.... jokes aside, I think we would all be better off if we learned to defend our opinions and rights without trying to destroy everyone else and burning all the bridges. Anyway, I'm not Canadian and I'm not really interested in arguing over whether or not JT is a good PM, I just think he did well in this interview :)

Ludmila - Guess you missed Trudeau's NYU grad speech and his thinly-veiled criticism of Trump and his policies. Trudeau has been at many speaking engagements in the US and he wasn't shy about setting up his own beliefs against Trump's. Of course he has to be civil now - the giant has been awakened.

IF you like socialism and half your taxes taken then Trudeau is your man ...Guess US is paying a lot of those benefits with the unequal trade ...So expect more Canadian taxes to make up for his unbalanced trade. America ONLY wants FAIR ... NOT SPECIAL trade ...JUST fair .. a dollar for a dollar ...Obama didn't respect America and would have given it all away ..Obamas ways GAVE AMERICA TRUMP ...Remember this!

@SirKentSaid
@SirKentSaid 6 жыл бұрын
Corvette Dude "Action over words"? REALLY? Well I think the fact that Trudeau is standing up for his country instead selling out like your president is outstanding. But allow me to remind you of just a few things that a REAL President did in 8 years. Rescued the country from a great depression. Remind me, whos fault was that? Ordered the capture and killing of Bin Laden Saved the U.S. Auto Industry Dropped the homeless Veteran rate by 50% And this one REALLY bothers you #magaets Signed the Hate Crimes Prevention Bill into law making it a federal crime to intimidate or harm people on the basis of their race, nationality or sexual orientation. So yeah, seems like a LOT of action to me and that's just an abbreviated list
@calidude1114
@calidude1114 6 жыл бұрын
So what did your real president do about North Korea over 8 years. NOTHING. What about Iran? Signed the worst deal in history giving away billions of our money to people that hate us. How stupid is that? What about the crime in his home town of Chicago? Nothing, highest crime ever in Chicago. Securing our borders? NOTHING DONE! But Trump has made progress. How about recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel? NOTHING DONE but Trump did it. What about reducing corporate tax rate so our business can compete? NOTHING DONE but Trump did it. The list goes on. Trump has done more in 1 year than Obama has done in 8.
@SirKentSaid
@SirKentSaid 6 жыл бұрын
Corvette Dude You mean billions of their OWN MONEY that we held until they complied with the 1st half of the deal? And basic math here is, under said deal, they wouldn't have the ability to make a nuke for 10 years. Without it, they can make one next week.

As a Canadian I just wanna say I am very glad to hear what Trudeau had to say at 16:04. This. I am so proud to live in a country that has firm values, will fight to ensure those values endure if we have to, and will help spread them around the world in a measured and honest way. And that we'd prefer to make diplomacy our primary tool to effect change in the world. Doesn't hurt that he is a good speaker, especially when the questions are pretty soft - provides an interesting juxtaposition with Trump. Eloquent and firm vs. aggressive and dishonest.

I can completely understand what you are saying, but it also scares me. He was raised in a politicians house hold. It seems like you just want to be lied to, nicely. With Obama every speech he made sounded great but it had no substance. Most of Obama's best speeches were made before he became President, as they still had hope left. Trump is America's way of waking up the world. We have tried to fix problems and we only make them worse, we are ready to pull back. Trump is America's "brexit" from leading. Take for example, Israel and Palestine. We picked up the problem from the UN and the UN picked it up from Britain because they assumed a super power could fix it. It can't. In this "deal" this will be a clear winner and a clear loser and Palestine has been holding out too long to become the clear loser. We haven't supported our ally Israel as strongly as we should because of this. So we dropped it and Palestine just realized no one... absolutely NO ONE wants to pick it up. There is no up side. You just spend political clout you built up over the years just to fail in the end. The world keeps telling us what will happen when we drop the ball and pull back and we know what will happen. We are just hoping it forces someone else to catch the ball before it falls, if you catch my drift.

Please Obama was all talk (Jive talk) and like a politician, mismanaged money very badly. How can you go from a community organizer to actually running things properly. Trump is not smooth, but we are tired of smooth talkers, we want an action oriented person who has created jobs and businesses way more conservatively than normal politicians who have not and cannot. I made a big mistake of believing a Jive talker like Obama. I agree Trudeau seems like a nice guy, but I would like to see the real truthful data on trade information, how much steel is Canada actually making or is half of it from China. What are the real % each country is charging each other for the past 20 years.

We love what Trump is doing with trade, not only with Canada but around the world. Fighting side by side with American soldiers has nothing to do with trade; in fact, Amercan soldiers have fought side by side with Canada. That is in both countries' interest. We all need to drop the tariffs and just allow trade to do what it does. That is what Trump wants and it is the best solution. We, in America, love our president and believe he is doing everything in the best interest of our country.

Dorothy How about understanding the issue before you post so much? It was because Trump invoked national security that the issue of military alliance was brought up. Trump really has no good point re NAFTA in regards to Canada. We import more dairy than we export to U.S., so what's his problem.. he wants to destroy our farmers like you destroyed yours? Canada has deficits with the US, but we make up by exporting RAW materials. If you knew anything, you'd understand this is greatly beneficial to both sides. US has security of supply (as you are the worlds largest consumers, by choice and don't have enough supply), we have a market, because otherwise our geographical position would make it difficult to export through other routes.

At 6:51, Justin Trudeau used a "Moose" analogy to describe Canada's relationship with USA. Bet you that Jackie Barrett, a former Canadian Special Olympics Men's Powerlifting Superstar also known as "The Newfoundland Moose", would love that one. Aside from the pun, Trudeau's moose metaphor to describe Canada/USA relations is right on as moose (Canada) are small compared to a big elephant (USA), but are indeed very powerful and dangerous when provoked. Canadians would say "We are 'The Moose'".

But, when it gets so nonsensical as what Trump did the other day, it makes me want to apologize on behalf of all Americans to our wonderful Northern neighbors that our President would make comments like he did. I agree, Justin Trudeau showed a lot of poise and a lot of class in that interview. Come to think of it, Andrew Scheer is a statesman compared to Donald Trump.

Happy Wanderer - I AM a Canadian and know the difference between Marxism, Socialism, fascism, Communism, nepotism, plutocracy, democracy and autocracy. I would NEVER want to live in the US, (where governments have been bought and sold by both parties for decades....2 party system, some choice?) particularly now under a plutocrat like Trump who violates the Constitution on a daily basis. He is becoming as close to fascism as you can get, undermining the law, freedom of speech and the press, picking pariahs for the public to hate, appointing family members with no experience or knowledge to positions of power, wanting military parades to display HIS power, admiring despots like Putin, Erdogan and Duterte (all dictators he praises) and getting chummy with the Chinese leader who just voted himself ruler for life. Yesterday Giuliani said if Trump shot Comey he couldn't be indicted and could even pardon himself..."Oops, pardon me for murdering you". Sounds like a "supreme ruler" to me and you think you can lecture me on political systems? I suspect I was voting decades before you were born.

It's a nice goal to increase jobs in the U.S. but there's two things to consider with Trump's tariffs. 1. Prices of goods will increase to cover the cost of the tariffs or the similarly higher costs of producing those goods in the U.S. Americans should be ready for the inflation that's coming. 2. Our allies on which tariffs are being imposed are, themselves, imposing dollar for dollar countervailing tariffs on American goods that they normally import. This will result in American exports being more expensive and less likely to continue being purchased by citizens of those countries. Less exports will result in job losses in those American industries.

Son of Babel Okay, a Fascist leader is a complete dictator who essentially has the same level of power as monarchs used to. Trudeau doesn't have that. Any decisions made are _not_ purely his choice; the _Liberal Government_ (aka more than just him) makes them together. Democratically. I realize that you're just being racist and argumentative because you're frustrated but honestly, don't talk about things you don't really know about.

Multinational corporations and corrupt politicians are responsible for the American trade deficit, not any particular country. Companies paid off American politicians to move factories to China and Mexico etc. Corporations should have to pay tariffs if they took factories out of the USA. It was good if these countries got their infrastructure improved and improved market access, but the USA does have a significant deficit problem.
