Canada has deficits with the US, but we make up by exporting RAW materials. If you knew anything, you'd understand this is greatly beneficial to both sides. US has security of supply (as you are the worlds largest consumers, by choice and don't have enough supply), we have a market, because otherwise our geographical position would make it difficult to export through other routes.

It's a nice goal to increase jobs in the U.S. but there's two things to consider with Trump's tariffs. 1. Prices of goods will increase to cover the cost of the tariffs or the similarly higher costs of producing those goods in the U.S. Americans should be ready for the inflation that's coming. 2. Our allies on which tariffs are being imposed are, themselves, imposing dollar for dollar countervailing tariffs on American goods that they normally import. This will result in American exports being more expensive and less likely to continue being purchased by citizens of those countries. Less exports will result in job losses in those American industries.
