In this video I explain in depth how to build a Tensegrity table out of basic 2x4 studs with simple tools!! No fancy workshop and no fancy wood here!! It’s an awesome table that gives the illusion that it is floating while it can also hold weight and be functional. Too many people are Cheating and building these with chains or rope, that's too easy!! I show you how to build these so they look as though there is nothing holding it up!! This is a do it yourself project that can take only a few days. I built most of it right in my backyard. Its an impressive artistic piece. There are so many options and ways to go about these particular tables but i explain in detail how to build the suspension mechanism that makes this work. I show you how i use the taut line hitch and the clove hitch to make it "float"! Please subscribe!! I have more cool table and modern artistic builds coming in the near future.

@1:25 Viewers...never make a table saw cut like this, its extremely dangerous. Clamp the vertical piece to be cut to a horizontal piece of wood and run that against the fence.

How do you tie the second end of the string AND end up being taut? You didn't show the ending of that tie.
@IllGetMyTools
@IllGetMyTools 3 жыл бұрын
It was very difficult a ton of fine tuning. The taut line hitch and clove hitches that I used allow you to slip and adjust the knots as needed. It was honestly a pain but was eventually able to make it work. On one side I actually did a double clove hitch on both top and bottom of the table. I had to use needle nose pliers to get into the hole and taught to the nail.

Why not just use taut line hitches on both sides, staring from the bottom. Doesn't a clove hitch run a risk of slipping? The taut line has no room for error but it would be more secure, no?
@IllGetMyTools
@IllGetMyTools 3 жыл бұрын
It would be, issue was creating the tautness in the small space. I put a safety knot on the clove hitch and it assisted in keeping it from slipping. You have to adjust all 4 lines multiples times it was very difficult so that’s what I came Up with in honesty.
@The_Conqueeftador
@The_Conqueeftador 3 жыл бұрын
@@IllGetMyTools yeah, I'm at the same stage but with a smaller version. Cutting my fingers to pieces tightening this line for like the 4th time. That taut line knot is gold for the bottom like you said. I'm also using JB weld wood fill epoxy instead of dowels because the hammering makes me paranoid. So far so good. Just waiting on curing.
@jasoningram2006
@jasoningram2006 2 жыл бұрын
Try a Palomar knot. I'm actually about to try to build one of these for the first time but my lifelong fishing experience gives me good insight on knots. A Palomar knot is literally an untiable lot it's basically a cinch knot once you get it to cinch down on it it will continue to tighten down on itself until it can tighten down no further or it will break. But it will never come untied.
