After hand watering a lot of newly planted trees (in mostly sand) over the dry season I agree the root systems like to dry out and get new fresh water everyday.

Do mameys like direct sunlight or just a light sun? I find that Avacados dont like a lot of direct sunlight so Ive been keeping my mamey's in the shade until I can confirm. I dont want them leaves to burn up due to too much sun!

In Australia that takes about 4 to 6 years depending on the latitude and how well it is tended.

I think you you mean anthracnose? If so, I would prune and destroy the infected leaves, if possible. Then spray with a bacillus amyloliquefaciens organic fungicide or copper-based fungicide.
