Seth Meyers should continue to do "A Closer Look" from his living room. Seriously, I don't care where they do it from. Let the writers do a conference call and whatever, man.

Now that Seth's audience is coming back, I went back and found this video, which looks like the last one before he lost his audience last March. But I'm driving myself crazy, because I remember watching a really somber video he shared right before going on hiatus, and I remember feeling like he was really scared. It was a really vulnerable moment, and I've always appreciated that he opened up so much. Am I crazy to remember that video?

In a moment of existential crisis, we are quickly losing our Late Night bullshit-detectors. No one else can watch cable news 24-7, and overly-brief "not-at-all-a-closer-look" tidbits of the corporate-controlled evening news are not at all informative and strive to be uncritical of government policy even when lives are stake and the test-capacity of the U.S. is orders of magnitude smaller than what it should be. Shame at NBC for cancelling Late Night TV. Furthermore, I'm sure some 2nd- or 3rd-tier celebrities will show up, even if they have to wear gas masks for the interview. Oh Seth Meyers, where are you, now that we need you the most?

Yeah, Seth! If you're reading this, do "a closer look" as like a 2-3 times weekly web exclusive while you're off the air. You were just talking about how losing work will negatively affect people, this will provide some revenue for the company through KZfaq's AdSense while allowing you to employ a skeleton crew of writers and production crew on the payroll.

You know, you're so right. The suits and ties in late-night era has come and gone. LOVE the pajama party idea. Projecting a corporate look may have felt necessary when the US was building a national economy and commercial funding for TV, but now we should scale back the rampant consumerism being pushed on us. We're in a new time, new situation. The economy isn't more important than the planet and the people on it. I've heard people say men in the US stopped wearing hats because JFK wouldn't wear them. Maybe Seth should start the absent necktie movement, work up to the PJs instead of the suit by year's end! This needs to happen!
@SamWinchester000
@SamWinchester000 4 жыл бұрын
Actually, we have a late night in Germany, Late Night Berlin, which started in 2018, and the host Klaas Heufer-Umlauf, a rather premature show master until then, started the show with a suit in the first season because he thought that he just was obliged to do it and couldn't do different, but then he realised that it was really not his style and not convinient for him, so in the next season he came in without the suit and explained that this style wouldn't fit him and that he would continue the show wearing shirts. The funny thing is that the intro is still made up of him wearing a suit... seems that the TV network was too lazy to redo it. kzfaq.info/love/BlOtMAWn6nQpChhRo14CYAvideos

That's a great idea--the other thing to change is the loud screaming and cheering hosts wait and wait to hear. I don't watch late night TV ever bc it's so jarring late in the evening. Let the applause and laughter be organic. Like Dick Cavett was way back in the 70s. And Tom Snyder, who just sat and interviewed the biggest stars without any desk, table, audience...it was so calming b4 bed.

The world needs the humour you guys provide. It must be possible for you all to collaborate on the scripts and stream it into production. We need brevity at times like this. x

@@CreamvalliPoppns I made the mistake of going to a comedy movie when I had pulmonary embolisms, and believe me, comedy is best in moderation when you have any illness affecting the lungs.

GREAT EPISODE! I’d love to see there be more causal/behind the scenes/relaxed take on late show. These formats are more organic and funnier. Colbert was great too!
