"Melania Trump was horrified at the prospect of becoming First Lady and on election night "was in tears - and not of joy," according to an excerpt of Michael Wolff's book, "Fire and Fury: Inside Trump's White House" published in NY Magazine.
Wolff writes that Melania "had been assured by her husband that he wouldn't become president," and could "return to inconspicuously lunching." Wolff also writes that President Trump and Melania have separate bedrooms in the White House, "the first time since the Kennedy White House" that such an arrangement has been maintained.”*

Asher8328 I have been convinced since the beginning that Drumpf never expected nor did he want to win the presidency. It was all a ploy to sell his brand. If anything, I believe he expected to lose the electoral college and maybe win the popular vote and then continue his reality star career, forever complaining about how unfair the election process was.

It's true that "hell" is relative. I think when she married trump, she figured she was signing up for 'living in luxury doing nothing' like you said. In slight defense to Melania, does any 1st Lady want the job either? How many wives of Presidents wanted the job and enjoyed it from the 1st day to the last? That said, she has been with Donald long before he was President and could make real change/impact as 1st Lady if she wanted to. Also, did she ever try to talk him out of running or ask him to drop out during the Access Hollywood tape scandal? I'm not saying I don't empathize with what she is going through, but it's hard to defend her given the full context of her marriage to Donald and his Presidency.

I think this video really drives home something that's been bugging me for awhile... > why are people so sympathetic towards melania? I mean I think some degree of sympathy is welcome to all members of the trump family including trump himself, considering that if it wasnt for him getting elected they would all be safe in their little bubble, where they can play pretend for awhile until eventually getting caught on something and either going to jail, bankruptcy or death, but to do so in obscurity... like most absurdly incompetent and morally vacant people gifted millions by their parents. The presidency ensures that when the trumps crash and burn it will be very public, and likely sooner than it would be otherwise. So for that I do extend some degree of empathy. But the kind of excessive sympathy towards melania strikes me as unfounded at best, and kind of condescending, in that she seems to be portrayed as someone who's 'stuck along for the ride' rather than a free agent. I mean I'm willing to entertain that she has sufficient reason for not openly expressing her opinions on the administration, and that the best she's able to do in protest is her distance from trump, but even with that I don't see why she'd be deserving of additional sympathy. I'm guessing this is just part of 'celebrity culture' that I just don't understand, ie why anyone would care about her more than any other person in comparable circumstances (obviously barring the specifics that make all circumstances different).

To Cenk & other TYT hosts, Please stop saying "The Russians" in regards to Russian oligarchs; this type of dog whistle is the same xenophobic tactic (whether you realize it or not) the right-wing uses when they refer to "The Muslims" or other various swaths of the population - it's gross that of all things to mirror you choose xenophobic dog whistle politics. Be better than them. Be clear, concise and actually cite who you're talking about without using terms that apply to vast swaths of Earth's population who all share different ideals and goals, to do otherwise is gross and unbecoming.

If this is true it makes the DNC look even more pathetic than it already does. When you elevate a candidate they can't even beat somebody who doesn't really want to win. Maybe this will convince all the Hillary supporters that she was the worst candidate ever in the history of running for president.
