I have a confession. I live in California and I almost voted for Trump. Admitting this is embarrassing so in my defense, although I didn't realize it at the time, I was full blown manic (super intense anxiety, frequently walking around aimlessly talking to myself, etc. really should have been put in inpatient in retrospect) so I was definitely not in the right state of mind and my thought processes were all messed up. The reason why I considered voting for him was that being in California, my vote meant nothing because of the electoral college so I reasoned that I may as well vote for Trump as a protest vote against the status quo. Not only that but everyone was saying that Trump was going to lose anyways so I figured that my vote for him doubly wouldn't matter. The more outrageous he was then the more of a protest my protest vote would be. But he was so vile that it made me want to vote Hillary or third party. I was deciding right up until I was in the voting booth deciding which circle to select. Now that I'm on meds and no longer manic I am so glad that I ended up realizing that voting for Trump was a bad idea and that I voted for Hillary instead. But it makes me wonder about all those sane people who voted for Trump. Even in the throws in mania I was able to figure out that it was a bad idea to vote for Trump. What excuse do all of the other Trump voters have?
