She struggled to read the articles. Then would try to read but get very frustrated at her inability. Finally, we couldn't get her to read at all, not aloud to us. She said she only liked the pictures. She would point at a picture and tell us a story. It is true that her dementia made it so she must tell a story to fill in the gap.
