We were never meant to be the world's policeman, and becoming involved in war after war has made us far too many enemies already. There should be exceptions, of course: yes, if we knew for certain that a new holocaust was being perpetrated, we should get involved. We should also be ready to assist our neighbors and historical allies, since their security affects our own. And finally, where we have already messed things up for people, (as in the case of the middle east) we should be prepared to accept moderate numbers of culturally compatible individuals and nuclear families as refugees. But beyond that, (and disaster relief) I basically want us to mind our own business.
