Rutte is very smart. He is running to be the next NATO chief and with the possibility of a Trump II government his first and most important task is to keep NATO together and the USA in.

Europe have always tried to avoid spending on NATO but expect the US to protect Europe always. Germany have never ever spent what was agreed and now they pay the price.

I agreed with this guy nato USA should not leave NATO but should make nato pay there part I’m from New York and that money can be used to help our people but if the defense budget for nato is 3%67 gpd r then that’s hard it’s time that every nato member step up now.

that's the only thing i agreed with trump on, luckily now almost all countries are beyond 2%, and beyond that, contributing a fair deal to the us weapons industry, and aka the tax payers.

I have issues with Trump, but that being said, he did get some things right, NATO countries in Europe not contributing their fair share was 1, NAFTA 2 was another and a few others....However, I am still going to vote for Biden in 2024....

How much does the USA actually spend on NATO military spending. Yes the US spends 3.24 % on military spending. BUT over 50% of that is spent in Asia, so that leaves 1.62%. OVER half this remainder is spent outside the entire NATO sphere of influence (Africa, Australia, South America. and Central America). so less than .8% of US military spending is on NATO. They are the lowest of any NATO country, FAR FAR (like 25% Lower) than Luxembourg at 1.01 % and well under 40% less than #3, Come on USA INCREASE your NATO spending up to the agree 2% spending for military support OF NATO. But then USA not living up to MANY, MANY of their signed obligations, such as defending Ukrainian borders if Ukraine gave up 35% of the worlds nuclear weapons in the 1990's. Must hurt to look in the mirror, Uncle Sam. Hurt a lot. P.S. LOOK up what the NATO agreement actually says, not what politicians say it means. before you put finger to keyboard.

Europe needs to rearm pretty quickly and give Ukraine everything it needs now, otherwise we're going to be fighting a bigger problem sooner or later

Politicians cannot afford to be wrong ... luckily, Donald Trump was not a politician when he first brought this matter to the EU's attention many years ago and he has been proven to be absolutely correct now that he is.
