You guys have been asking me for a while. What are the things on the bottom of my valve caps. Well They are the Stomvi MaxiClapper. Here is my review of them.
Which option do you like the sound of more
1. 2. or 3?
Which do you think has more overtones?
A, B, or C?

hi,I like your video very much. I like 3 and C. The sound become powerful. My trumpet is Stomvi Titan (3 valves), also put two Maxiclapper on first and third valves. I like the sound change on my trumpet. Again , thanks for your video!

Very interesting product! I liked how the 3rd combo made your sound darker, but it sounded slightly tin-ey at the same time, kinda like with an aluminum mute, which I don't think I like with every day playing. I think your sound without them is how I think a trumpet should sound. As far as overtones go, I'm not sure it really adds anything to your horn. To me it sounds like it's actually dampening the higher overtones letting the lower overtones speak better, but it's hard to tell on video. It's a cool product, but I think I would do without them for now. They will most definitely get better over time as the manufacturers tinker with them, but for now I think your standard trumpet is the way to go. Thanks for another great video!

Honestly, didn't think I would but I liked the horn without the clappers. Seemed to cut some of the higher overtones when you started adding them. Sounds great either way, I guess it depends on what makes you work less hard.

Third combo was the best.

Hi! (Sorry for my english) On record, the sound is exactly the same. The sound comes from you. you have a beautiful sound from nature, it will be the same on all instruments. You yourself will adjust it as you like on any instrument. On any trumpet your sound will be recognizable. Only you will hear the difference. Listeners will not hear difference at all, even if hear, this will be very very small. Choose what you will be more comfortable to play. Try to do a blind test, so you do not know whether there are resonators or not. Good luck.

Hi Phil! Great video. I have a question for you. I'm palying the last post at my school tomorrow for remembrance day and was wondering if you could give me any tips for playing it.

I think that if you were playing a normal 3 valve trumpet, a maxi-clapper on only the 3rd valve would be the best for JAZZ and COMMERCIAL/IMPROV SOLO playing. The tone had the biggest ring, most unique character, and the overtones were more spread and noticeable-a more complex sound that “stands out”.

The elephant in the room are always going to be the KZfaq playback results. The microphone choice, settings, the room, the other recording equipment, the lossy digital recording formats/compression, and then there's the infinite myriad of playback equipment that viewers/listeners are using to listen to it. Any ONE of these elements can easily overwhelm any such nuances altered by additions to the trumpet itself. So I think if one wishes to split hairs about what is installed on the trumpet, then one needs to be even more diligent about all these other things. And that's a problem, because what your audience is using to play the videos on is totally out of your control. Or is it? I do believe there MAY exist some combination that will be more optimal for the MOST COMMON playback equipment. Last but not least, I think we both easily agree that most Stomvi trumpets are among those that "print on the mic" better in a studio environment than perhaps certain other brands/models.
