No, Nigel, don't shorten the videos. That's what makes you different from the rest, keeping the 'Majority' interested, by visually explaining all the details of what you are doing. Please keep it as is. Regards Dave Porter, London.

Nigel if you want to then I'd suggest a summary video showing the most important parts edited out of detailed videos of 30 to 60 mins length might be an idea to follow. However, I prefer to watch the detail and use fast fwd or jump if I need to (happens occasionally)

That was such an intelligent solution for docking keels. I've seen others build up those areas with fillers or too much plastic and have to do way too much sanding. Looking forward to seeing the hull under primer.

Exactly. The pleasure in watching other peoples builds is seeing them doing things you'd never do, or had never thought about doing and wondering whether you might give it a go yourself. Nigel's approach to the hull as opposed to Jason's is also interesting. Its all about choices :).

Its great to see how you tackle the inacuracies in kits, and go through the process, reasoning etc. I am currently having an internal debate while i wait for after market to arrive. At the moment im planning on doing the rear anchor, portholes, de-gaussing cable and potentially the armour belt (depending on how brave i feel).

You are very welcome. Please tell me, has your method of gluing the deck down worked so far?
@plungingfirescalemodeling2441
@plungingfirescalemodeling2441 6 ай бұрын
The heavy gel medium used to glue the superstructure and flying bridge decks in Video 25 appear to have worked, or at least still stuck down securely. The Pontos main deck adhesive failed after about 4 months but confident the gel medium is working. I plan on using it this weekend to repair the main decks but this will be against the Pontos adhesive so will see how it goes.@@NigelsModellingBench

I did initially think about using PVA but when searching for information about it I came across the forum post in The Ship Model Forum and his detailed description and testimonial was pretty compelling so went with that. @@NigelsModellingBench

Nigel, another very interesting video. Our experience with Gorilla Glue (however not the particular variant you used here) has not been a rousing success, and we have pretty much banned it from our shop.

Nigel great work. I hadn't released that the 1/350 ships hulls (in general) were this approximated. It seems strange to me, because making the original mould with the correct (or at least much more correct) shape should be easy enough to do surely ? I paused making all 1/350 scale kits I own (let alone 1/200 although I'd love to build one). The last one was the Exeter and before that the Seydlitz. (I gave up both part way on both). When I look at the quality of there 1/350 scale 3D printed turrets, I'm afraid I despair about the quality of the base models. Living in central London, space is actually as big of a problem.

Great progress, Nige, well worth the effort imho and as ever you demonstrate that if a job's worth doing, it's worth doing properly. Not a ship modeller myself but I do watch the builds with great interest. I would endorse your recommendation of Plunging Fire's channel, a grat watch. I love his delicate soldering of PE assemblies; masterful!

I truly appreciate the 'excessive' 'obsessing' over 'stupid' details. There are 1000 ways to build a model. You are a perfectionist and if you are going to spend your time building a model, you want it done to the best of your ability. I truly appreciate that level of effort. When do you think you will return to the Titanic build? I was absolutely loving the shell plating efforts. I can understand that it is tedious and can burn you out quick.

Your work is masterful. I would love to do docking-keels on my Trumpy 1/200 Gneisenau, but I dont know if I dare to try that 😁 The Revell 1/350 Tirpitz is very nice, but unfortunately, the hull is to short. The Tirpitz was 3.1 meters longer than the Bismarck and Revell has used the same hull for both kits.
