Trivona the Trickster should read: Both players have spell damage = 3. Then it could be tech against mind blast priest and maly OTK decks.

Pretty sure Malygos would still work, depending on how it was coded. It's possible it could set spell damage equal to 3, then Malygos would increase it by 5, for a total of 8.

I don't think there is a way to word the Munchroot card text in any language that uses prepositions in one of the sentences. Like, in Russian Your minions cost (3) would be Ваши существа стоят (3) маны without a preposition, wherein Minions cost (3) more would be Существа стоят *на* (3) маны больше (ваши = yours, больше = more). And Russian is one of the languages availible in Blizzard games (although the translation sucks anyway imo). So, nope, that doesn't work:)

agreed, and taking the fact that some some languages (Chinese, Japanese) do not have "words" in the same sense that English has them (always separated by spaces or hyphens or other symbols), this would never work unless reworded to something like "Remove one" and have the parts of the sentence to be removed be in bold and between brackets.

In Turkish, Munchroot wouldn't work because it would have to be "Minyonların(ızın) bedeli 3 artar(costs more) - olur (becomes)". Papa blizzard doesnt have to worry about this tho because we are yet to have any blizzard game translated to Turkish. But considering that there are languages that use suffixes a lot, Munchroot should definitely be a choose one card instead.

@@0IIIIII That's an incredibly dismissive and ignorant statement. How is it any indication of how shitty something is? The only thing it indicates is that the designers of the cards are English speaking. If we're gonna start calling things shitty because it doesn't work across translation, then I guess that the majority of wordplay is shitty, too. Puns are nearly impossible to translate, but that isn't something that makes them shitty. I'll be honest, I was a blind bigot once upon a time; I hated on Reddit because other people did, and I just didn't really care enough to look more into it. Over time, I've found that it can be an incredible resource when faced with a problem that needs solving, but it's best if used as one tool in your box, rather than your be-all end-all. Beyond that, it just serves as a place with dedicated communities to just about any topic you can think of. Blindly calling it "shit" when there's such an incredibly level of diversity in the content and user base is simply absurd.

If Munchroot WAS choose one, it would imply that the effect lasted forever since choose one effects are generally transformations (which this isn't) or some kind of spell effect (deal 2 damage or silence, for example).

Got some good custom spirits with hydra... 9 mana 12/11 whenever this minion takes damage add a random legendary to your hand... Also a super-balansed 6 mana 4/5 taunt with "after you summon a minion, summon a 2/2 slime", which fills the board instantly

Something to note with Burning Legion. Because of the ordering of the card text, if you summon mal'ganis with burning legion, you won't take 8 damage, so bloodblood into burning legion would only make you take 10 damage instead of 18.

The druid card does not work in Finnish, Turkish, and many other languages where possessive pronouns are realized with a suffix. In Finnish "minion" is "käskyläinen" but "your minions" is "käskyläisesi" so it's pretty hard to make this card. "minions" would be "käskyläiset". There are quite a few languages where in general suffixes are used where different words are used in English like in Finnish you can ask in one word "käskyläisillesikinkö?" which more or less means "Is it for your minions too?"

I think the reason for Munchroot to not be a choose one is because of Fandral Your minions cost 3 and minions cost 3 more. Besides choose one works more to the likes of a battlecry, while remove one word keeps it as an aura effect (while the card is on the field)

While they *can* just change the wording to a more traditional "Choose one: Minions cost (3) more OR Your minions cost (3)" when translating Munchroot, there is the question of whether this card's "remove one word" effect counts as a "choose one" effect for *Fandral Staghelm* if you do and it does remove the unique flavor of the wording.

2:57 Experimenting Necromancer might be plausible if you restricted the card pools, probably making specific custom options rather than a pool of existing cards, more like a Kazakus potion in minion form than a Death Hunter Rexxar. That should limit how broken it would be. Rexxar doesn't even have the same potential for brokenness because it doesn't put an arbitrary trigger on an arbitrary effect. A death rattle can be particularly significant because, barring some special combos, you're only going to trigger it *once*. Maybe you get more if you use specific cards like Play Dead, but even then you're unlikely to get much more than one bonus activation per additional card played. Things like summoning a mid-to-high power minion is perfectly reasonable if you are only doing it once (or having to spend a card to use it more times). An activated effect can occur an arbitrary number of times and sometimes is attached as a downside.

I love the final Burning Legion card but you'd have to make it something like 10 or 15 damage to your hero so that if you did Bloodbloom it could be catastrophic early. You could make a deck around lifesteal so that later in the game you could cast it but you'd always be vulnerable to burst damage if you do. It should be a card that could always potentially kill you. Making a deal with demons rarely works out but it can give supreme power.

Dantes infernal gave me an idea. 5 mana epic rarity 6 atk/8 hp demon with Lifesteal, Attack Heroes, & Overkill: Any excess damage is dealt to all other friendly characters. Its a powerhouse of a minion but if you cant use it to hit their face, only control the board. The major setback is that since it has such high atk youre likely to trigger overkill which will clear whatever board you want to have. So you control the board but you cant really build a board either.

There is a subtle difference between Munchroot being as is and having a Choose One effect - if put onto the field without you playing it (be it through Dirty Rat or a Recruit effect), it would presumably have the full "Your Minions cost (3) More" text (since you're not removing either word). Very fringe case, but sort of cool.

I'd still really love the infinite card supply. Just load your deck with card draw and that card, then change to random cards and take advantage of the draw in your hand to compensate for the relatively poor chance of finding card draw in the randomness.

2:42 Hungarian. It would be 'A lényeid 3-ba kerülnek' (your minions cost 3) or 'A lények 3-mal többe kerülnek' (minions cost 3 more). You can't put that two together. If something costs x, then it is: x-ba/be kerül. If something costs x more then it's: x-val/vel többe kerül (+the 'v' letter changes to the word's last letter). Yeah, Hungarian is pretty complicated. This is one of the easiest rules in grammar.

Munchroot does not work in Japanese because of how grammar works. Different parts of speech use connecting "words" to indicate how they relate to one another. For example, あなたの (anata no) means "your", but it technically uses more than one "word".

Japanese's use of particles isn't the primary issue; the two phrases would need to be constructed distinctly differently and probably couldn't be made into one sentence like they did in the original card. I came to this conclusion by looking at Venture Co Mercenary's and Naga Sea Witch's card texts. I leave them below for convince. Venture Co Mercenary's text: "Your minions cost 3 more" In Japanese:「自分のミニオン全てコストが（３）増える。」 Naga Sea Witch's text: "Your cards cost 5" In Japanese: 「自分のカードのコストは（５）。」

Well, one of those uses "minions" and the other "cards", but besides that the sentences are very similar.[自分の]ミニオン全てコストが（３）[増える]The particles are the only real issue since even if you bundle them up as one "word", there are other problems. The bracketed sections here are what would need to be removed. If you removed 増える, though, the particle が preceding the 3 would need to be changed to は.

Just to add a little more confusion some more cards with similar texts in English and Japanese Mana Wraith, English: All minions cost (1) more Japanese: 全てのミニオンのコストが（１）増える。 Emerald Hive Queen, English: Your Minions cost (2) more Japanese: 自分のミニオンのコストが（２）増える。 Aviana, English: Your minions cost (1) 自分のミニオン全てのコストは（１）になる。 Why does Aviana's Japanese text so different from Naga's text even ignoring minion vs card. Also it seems like the card as written is inconsistent with how other cards are written in English. Namely that it shouldn't be Minions cost (3) more but All minions cost (3) more.

I tried the Experimenting Necromancer, and I got Moroes and Nerubian Egg. 5 mana 1/3 Stealth, at the end of your turn, summon a 4/4 Nerubian. Totally balanced.

I think you interpret Trivona the Trickster a bit wrong. I think it means Your Spell damage is 3. But it cannot be altered beyond that. Even when there are 3-4 Trivona and Malygos on the board your spell damage will be 3

Wouldn't Munchroot be a VERY different (not to mention bad?) card when combined with Fandral Staghelm? With those two combined, Munchroot would basically be, your minions cost 6.

The Burning Legion could be re-worked a bit. For example it could "select" a bunch of demons in your deck (both you and your opponent can see which demons are selected) and when you draw the selected demons they're automatically summoned on the battlefield. Or it could remove random demons from your hand/deck and summon them after a bunch of turns (like before both you and your opponent can see which demons got removed and are about to be summoned) Both of these reworks play into the fact that summoning the Burning Legion is not subtle, there are clear signals that demons are invading the world (that's why you can see which demons are targeted by the spell) and the ritual itself takes time to be completed (that's why you need to draw into the various demons or wait a few turns for them to be summoned) Then make it a Legendary and remove/reduce the self damage. It's probably still OP but there's room for improvement

Trivona is pretty close to being a viable card. If it affected both players, it could be anti-spell tech (Stopping stuff like Warrior's Shield Slam/Reckless Flurry, Druid/Warlock Spellstone (Though, be careful about Defile...), Shaman Volcano and Mage Meteor/Explosive Runes/Cinderstorm) Or if it was instead of changing all spells damage to 3, it actually just set you to 3 spell damage. Meaning +3 damage on spells, but you can't get more than that from say Maly/Thalnos etc. Then it would be a powerful combo legendary card by giving pretty significant damage boosts to spells for cheap (But you can't Simulacrum abuse it for OTK massive damage spells)

Idk , Overwhelming Force seems too polarizing to me. Wasn’t there a 5 mana Mage spell that did like 10 dmg but only to minions? Against Control it would be soo good. Like a 3 mana Asassinate. ( vs Ysera for example) And against aggro it’s soo bad, almost unusable.

Trump, I believe Munchroot's card text says "Remove One Word" rather than "Choose One" is because of the Fandral Staghelm interaction. It would be very confusing/bad. I don't believe it's worded like that out of cleverness, but necessity.

A fun note with Luna's Pocket Galaxy that I don't think you realised: While you'll never fatigue, you might actually eventually end up in a situation where you're locked out of playing the game. There are certain spells with VERY specific activation requirements, so you could end up with an entire hand full of literally unplayable cards and just burn the rest of your draws forever.

Trump Druid is not bad at single target removal, mulch spellstone starfire and countless others all do single target removal for Druid

Why not add another rating parameter, the Flavor? Some cards like the Legion have great Flavor but not necessarily Great design. I think it'd be cool generally, but also perhaps push people to create cards that are more fitting.

The point is probably to necrium vial Raducla's Coffin, but this still feels much more in the flavor of warlock so yeah. Just make it not a vampire and don't give it lifesteal

In hungarian, the sentence itself changes if you remove 1 Word. Your minions cost 3 - A minionjaid 3-ba kerülnek. Minions cost 3 more - A minionok 3-al többe kerülnek. Its a different language where the "more" "your" etc. stick to the word.

XD I went to the card creator thing for the necromancer thing, and went to the second one, got goblin bomb, unpowered steambot, and reversing switch, which lead to a 11/0 6 Mana taunt, deathrattle deal 2 damage to the enemy hero XD

In hungarian language the remove one word thing would not work because the other words' suffixes (idk if I am naming those things correctly, I just don't know the word for them) would change with the meaning of the sentence. While trying to translate "your minions cost 3" and "minions cost 3 more" I figured out that I can't translate it correctly if I want to keep it in the format as it is. The word 3 would always get a "suffix" even if we add "mana" behind it. I think (3)-ba and (3)-al looks a bit weird. Oh well, translating hearthstone to hungarian maybe just wasn't meant to be.

Luna’s Pocket Galaxy is still op there. Academic espionage being in rogue isn’t a viable comparison because control rogue isn’t a thing. Rogue is a tempo oriented class meanwhile Mage is pretty control oriented and would benefit 10x more than Rogue by being able to avoid fatigue. In any other control vs control mage matchup the fatigue plan is automatically made useless and you’re forced to kill them or lose. Which is pretty stupid.

I would imagine your hand would be filled with random cards but you would loose the pocket galaxy (since you overdrew your entire endless deck at once). The interaction could also be worked around by saying you don't technically have any cards in your deck since its a "source of random cards" not a deck of preexisting cards meaning it would do nothing at all.

What if the "remove one word" effect wasn't a battlecry? That is, Munchroot comes into play with the full effect, "Your minions cost (3) more," and you must satisfy some condition before you get to remove a word, e.g. when you attack with this minion. This would meaningfully distinguish the mechanic from "choose 1."

Munchroot Does not work in Nepali Language. We have Subject -object-verb instead of subject-verb- object like english.

Experimenting necromancer gives some hilarious combos. I rather like Cho + Ticking Abomination for maximum shit. 6 mana 5/10 with "Whenever a player casts a spell, deal 5 damage to your minions."

I don't think the Naga sea witch comparison is warranted, the card saw 0 play outside of a wild deck for hunter that abused the new cost reduction and cost set interaction with the giants to play a ton for free. Outside of that one interaction the minions costing 3 would be fine because the lack of protection makes it easy to remove and the stax option isn't too oppressive. Yeah it is a new outlet for Kun to combo with but being able to play at most 3 creatures with that combo by the same turn you would with Aviana is still by comparison far more tame.

Well, that's not the Deathrattle though. The deathrattle is Destroy the enemy hero if your hand, deck and board is empty.

Mechathun wouldnt even be in the pool for that card. Just like DK Rexxar it combines the cost and stats of both cards choosen which means you can only pick minions that cost five or less mana.

In Danish, though Munchroot could "technically" be worded as it was on the card, the way people actually would say it is "[Dine] håndlangere er (3) mana [dyrerer]," which would translate to "[Your] minions are (3) mana [more expensive]," where first of all, more expensive isn't one word, and second, "Your minions are (3) mana," makes no sense at all. Luckily, Danish isn't a supported language in HS. :)
