Calvin, you totally nail the problem(s) with these hips. I'm wondering why no litigation is being filed against these companies, based upon the "The product did not fail (has not been REMOVED yet) per se, but this product is POISONING the plaintiff" argument. Either way, you're exactly correct in what you say in this video. I have had two metal-on-metal hips since 9/16/11. I had searing, horrific pain 24-7 for the first 5 years & got the same runaround you describe. I was asking for revisions, but the surgeon I was seeing (whom I later found out was being highly compensated by the device maker... more than $600K in one year alone!) told me my two MoM hips (J&J DePuy Pinnacles with metal Ultamet liners) were great, that he had no idea why I had been in so much pain since getting them, that nobody else who had them was suffering like I was, and that getting them revised would not stop the pain. Now, at year 6 post-op, my pain is a bit better. I suspect I finally got through the "bedding in" period, during which the implants "self sand" and create more wear debris. I still hurt daily, but I can accept this level of pain, especially when I compare it to what I've felt the prior five years. But I have constant tinnitus that drives me nuts & noticable cognitive decline. My MARS MRIs show a pseudotumor in each leg that has tripled in size in the past 18 months. My echocardiogram showed thickening/scarring of the left ventricular wall & septum of my heart. Yet surgeons now don't want anything to do with MoM patients who need revisions. My husband & I cannot figure out why nobody argues a case for a plaintiff based upon the fact that the product is POISONING her. We've been told that, until I have the hips revised (which I tried to do for five years, before realized it was bribed surgeons who were being paid to emphatically dissuade patients from having revisions), I have no case. Is that just because no attorney has yet to successfully argue the "her product is poisoning her" angle? Why is nobody willing to argue that, because it's definitely comes with as life-ruining a set of circumstances as I would have experienced, had I been able to get revisions back when I was trying to get revisions. It is perhaps a worse scenario for those of us who tried but couldn't get revisions and are now suffering from years of cobalt, chromium, nickel & other metals, running through every part of our body for numerous years.
