Trusting is one of the risks a leader has to take. The more we give trust, the more we receive trust in return. And if we give people a sense of control and autonomy, we end up with healthier, happier teams.

Expressing trust in your team is a strong display of vulnerability and also of comfort in ceding some of your control. It's interesting to me that by being open to the stress that may come with that reduction in control, you are paradoxically likely to encounter less stress due to more engagement and commitment from your team members. It generates a positive cycle. This highlights once again that the underpinning of a lot of Simon's work is the human need to feel seen, heard, and validated. When these conditions are met we can thrive. He very clearly recognises this and succinctly breaks it down. Thank you, Simon!

That word that the general said is the best word any leader can speak to the team, it just gives liberty to fly. power to exceed expectations, grace to multiply purpose. you want to go on and on until you perfect your giftings because of a leader that will not condemn you but help you fix you when you are broken. Watching these is bringing back anxiety of how terrible my last boss really was. He worked in a very senior position in a fancy company, at the office 9-4:30/5 while his team worked 60 hours and any mistake was us failing him and us making his job so difficult... wish I'd been a little more informed then.
